I’m fine with Miller getting the ball then.  It didn’t work out.  It happens.  But I’d have been fine with Foley as well.  Honestly I’d have been fine with leaving Holton in.

To me, this game down to lack of offense.  Maeda held up his end, got them through 6 when they needed the innings.  Sure, Miller gave up a solo home run.  But the offense struggles again, 3 runs in 9 innings, strike outs galore against Ryan.

Lange and McKinstry are going to be blamed, maybe Miller, too.  For the sake of the pitching staff, it’s probably better to have lost in the 12th than go on further.  Lange is what he is now, and it’s not very good.  McKinstry booted it, and that sucks.  Can’t do that then.  It shouldn’t have gotten to the 12th.

Now they need Manning to go 6 and the offense needs to show up. And they probably do need to seriously consider sending Lange to Toledo to work on control.   He’s just not good right now.

Ok just as a reminder this is a message board and calm sound analysis moments after a crushing loss is not accepted.

absolutely terrible approach by Torkelson in the 11th with the game on the line all he needs is to poke the ball to right against a guy throwing him outside and he's till trying to pull everything. Terrible.

Tork's baseball instincts are very questionable. Platoon DH batting 7th is in his future.

  3. I mean Verling is a great centerfielder and if Meadows is out then he will play there. As for replacement it could be Mallory on the roster playing DH rather than Perez or Badoo. It's a weaker outfield defensively but maybe Mallory cn help the hitting ?

I thought prior to Spring Training it was "his job to lose" because, while Baddoo was mostly dismissed, there was at least the thought that Meadows still had to prove he could hit in MLB, IIRC. And Baddoo, or Greene in CF, were the fallback options.

Whereas by the end of ST it was more like "OK, he's got this."

    But my memory sucks so...

Aside from that... I mean... things change...

Here's an odd idea: The Org put Wenceel in the OF quite a bit last year in Toledo. Is Baddoo the fallback if Meadows needs some time in Toledo? Or Wenceel Perez?

    Just a thought/ question.

    Maybe neither ?

  5. I would stick with meadows and maybe platoon him a little bit for awhile but he needs o play most days. We lead the league in defense because of our outfield of Greene-Meadows-Verling left to right and I would have them there 90 % of the games.  But that won't happen because Hinch loves moving players around.
