So when a GM drafts a player and said player does not have success at the major League level until a new GM arrives with new coaching etc then which GM gets credit for the players success ? Is it the GM who drafted the player or the GM that leading to the development of the player in reaching the big leagues ? Maybe both ?

It's easy for me. As I have been saying I see McGonigle as a third baseman and Peck as the shortstop. Too early for Rainer but he could force McGonigle to second or Peck to the bench. It would be a wonderful problem.

Harris isn't perfect but I am still supportive of him and think overall he has done a very good job. I also think he will improve to our, the fans, benefit. We have suffered lots of injuries, not only at the major league level but also in the minors ( both this year and last year) that left us very thin in May. We still have almost four months to go in Detroit and on the farm. I'm curious to see where it takes us. Hopefully the last six games is the trailer of the movie to come.

That's good to know. I doubt he hits like McGonigle but he could slug way more and a solid fielding shortstop who slugs at a .480 clip is very very valuable. How does his arm look ? He supposed to have a cannon of an arm. Is it still that way after surgery ?

Has Verling been that bad of a centerfielder apart from his one bonehead play ? Has centerfield play been the main cause of May's disaster ? Serous question what do you folks think ?

Great information and yes of course you need men on base but three walks and the bases left stranded deflates a team and one homer - even a solo- is a run. It's very simplistic as am I but sometimes the basics cut through all the noise. I always profess Earl Weaver's mantra of "Pitching , Defense and the 3 run homer " but I guess that was easy with Frank Robinson - Boog Powell bombing and - Jim Palmer - McNally and Cualler on the mound with Brooks Robinson- Mark Belanger and Paul Blair catching everything in sight.

If we hit homers we win. Power is very important. Instant runs and high energy. Power = Winning. Slugging pct > OBP.

For 2027 we need a number 1 starter, shutdown closer, shutdown 8th inning pitcher, shortstop or third baseman and one real power threat if not two. That's quite a bit.

Agree. He has value even at a low 4.00 era since he seems to take the bump every five days and pitch 6 plus innings. Not an Ace but solid if overpaid.

If anything the injuries this year proves that organizational depth is very important. If we "clear the barn" we might be ensuring the same result next season on a smaller scale. Trade Skubal - Mize- -Janssen - Torres for the best you can get and re tool in the off season. Hope Carpenter - Keith and Torkelson can rebuild their value the remainder of this off season and then trade them if they do.

Bregman/Boras wanted 200 million. It was both too high an ask and also the time to just overpay. We offered 171ish..whats the difference ? If you wanted the player it required a premium for him to choose Detroit over Boston etc. and we got cute. Haivng said that it's still possible he would have said no.

Nobody is getting fired nor should they. Are there things that I would like to be done differently heck yes ! Am I glad it's Harris making these decisions and not me double heck yes !!! We over performed the last two years and it was reasonable to expect improvement from the same players plus Kevin McGonigle plus Framer Valdez and two more veteran bullpen arms. Regression, injuries and older guys falling off the cliff all happened at the same time equaling FUBAR for 2026. The best way to learn, and the hardest, is trail and error and failure. Harris has now experienced this and he will learn from that and make adjustments. IF he doesn't THEN you get the pitch forks out and I will lead the charge. Now is Scott Harris's moment of truth.

And those three are going to burn out from carrying the whole team. Or trying too.
