  1. Malloy seems like a five star person but he is limited defensively and so is Jones. Both will be Tiger's history soon.
  2. I have always thought of him as way below average and he does not scoop the ball well either despite what our announcers may say. He never repositions on the bag for better angles. His planted foot is in cement. Yesterday's McGonigles error was a case in point. If Tork slides down a touch to the corner of the bag he can get the bounce throw easier and stay away from the runner. Agree the arm is weak and chasing foul balls is always a challenge. Personally I am ready to put Colt there full time for at least two months and see what we have but then again Colt can't reach the seats and G2 has pointed out he isn't really trying so that hardly makes for a first baseman. I feel bad complaining so soon but "something" is off with this team and the core of Tork-Greene - Carpenter might be the issue.
  3. So is Kevin McGonigle our best hitter already ? Serious question .
  4. I'm not sure but he doesn't hit well with RISP so maybe the pressure is just not his thing. In 2006 Leyland did well putting power bat in the 8th spot so maybe keep him down there.
  5. I agree and maybe as a team we can graduate from needing to piece together imperfect parts to forming a more standard starting five with a bit less reliance on platooning ?
  6. Congratulations to your Alma Mater. Well done....even as a 1980 Spartan graduate living in California it's nice for my hometown State to rule the day. Now on to next year again 🙃
  7. It's Early and the roster will have many variations during the year. We're ok.
  8. Carpenter looks lost. Can't find his hammer. only screws.
  9. Another sign out depth is legit. Hope Seabold works out. Decent first outing.
  10. Agree. Our arms will be very average but we should catch everything.
  11. I think team Harris/Hinch will play McGonigle often at third and not just short because it just might be his best position. It's still an evaluation. Against right handers I see a lineup of McGonigle at 3B, McStinky at shortstop, Carpenter in RF and Keith DH. I "think" McGonigle ends up a third baseman and not a shortstop.
  12. One of the MLB Trade Rumor writers is picking the Tigers to win the World Series so I will make my first post on this tread with that ! And all of them have the Tigers winning the Central. "Go get em Tigers "
  13. McKinstry is going to get reps at short and it won't be Keith playing third when that happens. It will be the new guy. It will be interesting to see who starts the most games at third base in 2026 and does anyone approach even 80. But IF Keith can play it defensively that does provide the best offensive upside.
  14. Problems with finding playing time for Colt and sending Perez down are only good for the organization. Plus more players emerging. Sustainability is here provided we can keep pitchers healthy . Good times folks. Strap in we have a pennant to chase. Maybe more ?
  15. Not full time but often plus moving around unless Meadows flames out and Baez moves to CF but even saying that Verling could take center and Perez back up to RF. It's a tough pill once again for Colt but he just seems limited in the field and McGonigle at 3B with Baez/McKinstry at SS is far superior defensively. Colt has two problems - Defense and Power. Until one or the other emerges he's the odd man out in my book.
  16. Second base opens next year and 1B/DH. Can always trade him.
  17. I agree. In fact he will always play the left side even when Torre is gone. Both positions are hard to fill so he will take one of them and he seems a natural at 3B. I think he will out hit Bregman playing third this season. The kid's a freak unicorn. I still like Peck for shortstop or of course Rainer. Farm system making bank !!
  18. I don't think Verling will play 3B this season in deffrence to his arm recovering.
  19. Then he will be one of very few who does but I doubt he will. We shall see.
  20. No hate from me. Total respect for Boras. Capitalism at it's finest and I totally agree and would do the same. It's just good business as well to recognize what's happening and find better VALUE elsewhere.
  21. I couldn't agree more with your assessment. Pure Mercenary driven by Boras and Tarik's " duty to the union/players to raise the bar" and other such BS. Tarik isn't going to make the decision Boras will. Boras has Skubal wrapped round his finger and will play him like a puppet especially after the labor angst spoils the atmosphere. Enjoy the year, hope he isn't begging out of every game after 85 pitches , and show him the door.
  22. I'm not so sure either of those teams want to pay a stupid contract to a pitcher either. He's not getting 500 or 400 million in my estimation. Over 30 with two previous arm repairs and the fragility of pitchers will temper his upside. He's not an every day player. Plus the Dodgers are doing just fine without him.
