  1. oh ok mr. every wings prospect will be mini-gretzky. you have to give up something to get something. goalies are notoriously volatile. the wings have a better prospect in augustine at the ready. as far as i'm concerned EVERY wings prospect is available for a quality player on the right contract.
  2. philly bombs out this year because their goaltending sucks again. wings are chasing a playoff berth at the deadline. you wouldnt deal cossa and a first round pick for konechny?
  3. holland looks like he should look for this year. he looks too good for summer league. that's what you want to see.
  4. cossa ended the year.....poorly. cossa is an upside play. 6'6 goalies dont grow on trees. augustine seems like a higher floor, lower ceiling prospect. i would deal cossa to a team like philly that is desperate for a goalie. bope that philly crashes out and trade for someon there?
  5. wheeler's new goalie prospect rankings has augustine at #3 and cossa dropping to #8. he writes about augustine: "He and fellow Red Wings goalie prospect Sebastian Cossa are such different people and goalies as well, which will make for an interesting yin and yang dynamic, I think. But I'm a bigger believer in Augustine and believe has has already passed — or will pass — Cossa on their depth chart."
  6. dont make me tap the sign: sign: summer league stats mean nothing.
  7. byram gets 2x6.25 walking him right up to free agency in his prime. great job buffalo. someone will overpay him dramatically based on his numbers being so good. but if he isnt bringing rasmus dahlin with him, its unlikely to translate to his new team.
  8. lebron being a pouty bitch becsusr they wont sign a 40 year old to a huge multiyear extension. its Luka's team now, lebron. will he insist that his new team trade for bronny too? or will he not want to do the lakers any favors on his way out the door?
  9. that's what you would hope to see from last year's lottery pick.
  10. good to see ron make back to back threes.
  11. who is a better shooter next year? ausar or duren?
  12. the stories of a lot of the 84 tigers are....interesting.
  13. the marlins traded miggy because they couldnt afford him. you would probably be surprised at how many of those guys are functional alcoholics. at least they used to be. a friend of mine used to own a bar in royal oak and had all sorts of stories about miggy, maggs, all those guys and their alcohol use/abuse and the women that were all over them. its good to be a multi-millionaire athletic freak. lol.
  14. bust
  15. one thing is for sure, there's no way i'm giving up two top ten prospects for a star player. can you imagine giving up miller AND maybin? no way.
  16. there's also a universe where we have two hall of fame starters in their prime and get swept by the giants. 😞
  17. pittsburgh trades for dumba...maybe a karlsson move is next?
  18. i always liked frank layden.
  19. speaking of stupid, devin booker signs a two year extension for $145 million. how much is stanley making now in the drew league?
  20. deshaun watson, but thanks for making my point for me and undercutting your original argument about the nfl. trades of huge contracts happen in the nfl and the teams dont even have to accumulate the same amount of salary give or take 10% UNLESS theyve been an apron team for more than six months in january under a full moon. the nba's stupid salary cap rules dont prohibit trades, obviously. but it does make them unnecessarily complicated and makes them too often about things other than on court performance or team building. your mileage - as usual - may vary.
  21. houston traded a $40 million player for a bunch of draft picks. they took no money back. or be like baseball and not have a salary cap. if phoenix wants to trade kevin durant for two second round picks, they should be able to do that.
  22. they already pay more than 51% of bri because the cap doesnt exist and everyone goes over it. it's a fiction. its not going to happen because the current system exists. you cant go back and enforce a hard cap. instead of dealing with issues in a realistic way - or simply letting the market work - theyve created this unwiedly, overcomplicated mess. most fans probably wonder "why cant we trade for x?" and then have to be told that you cant do that because his salary is only x % of the mle and your team is already an apron team and they OBVIOUSLY cant make that move because last year they were in the tax.... what child wouldnt understand that?
  23. you dont have to. you just increase the cap. the real problem will be telling the low revenue owners that there is no longer any penalty for spending money on salaries. the nba has created a labryinth of exceptions, carve outs, and exceptions to exceptions that make everything much more complicated. i cant just trade X player for Y player. i have to trade X player for Y+Z's salary to create an exception so i can sign Z. its much less interesting to most people who are die hard nba junkies like yourself.
  24. or they could just have a cap and make everyone stay under it.
