  1. just in time to get bounced by rick carlisle and the pacers.
  2. kat with an airball 3. kat getting punked at the rim by 40 year old al horford. ah, and everything is right in the world again.
  3. the celtics are falling apart.
  4. would the clippers part with kwahi? the bucks with giannis? the problem for the pistons is they would be outbid by teams that ACCUMULATED ASSETS INSTEAD OF 7 FOOT LOSERS FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS OF A REBUILD. if okc or houston or brooklyn want someone, they have the assets to do it. detroit really doesnt unless you want to put ausar AND ivey AND multiple 1s into the mix.
  5. its howard beck from nyc. he just saw the pistons for the first time this year. and i think he was the guy who didnt have cade as even a 3rd team all nba, right? look, he has to write a piece on the pistons and came at it from a certain angle. i dont like the logic because all those teams he talked about are different and, as del points out, there are plenty of teams that DID decide to add talent and it worked. the worrying part for me is gores. as always. first of all, what kind of owner holds a press conference before his team gets ready to play game six? oh yeah, the same kind who is issuing press releases about how tough the team is. he's a egotistical maniac and the idea of him forcing a trade for kd (like his fellow sparty frat boy millionaire mat ishbia did) for the headlines and the attention (to him, of course), makes me very worried. if you could get a genuine superstar in or near his prime to play with cade, you do it. but i doubt that person actually comes available. if they do, you have to do it. this is basketball and one player can mean almost everything.
  6. The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy.
  7. so much for waiting for danielson to step up like kasper did last year.
  8. lololol. how many spots has detroit dropped now?
  9. it is difficult to lead when you dont have the confidence of the people youre leading. and he has to please the board AND the professors, who are two very different groups with many different interests. like you say, once you lose their confidence, youre finished. youre seeing it at northwestern too. but they are much more in the crosshairs of the trump administration given their high profile ignoring of their jewish students concerns. the faculty want to "fight", or think they do. i imagine there are many faculty members in the hard sciences who are concerned more about their reasearch grant money than on any protests on the "worlds most horrible thing ever" of the day. trump, of course, makes things so much worse in the hamhanded and cruel way he does everything. but they play right into his hands. i understand the nixon comparison, but nixon was actually smart... we should stop ruining this thread before it attracts more politics talk. so....underwood for heisman? too soon?
  10. taking the better ideas from "dei" and moving them under a different organizational umbrella is not "capitulation" to a bad idea. slavishly adhering to the extremes of public policy even after they've been adjudged to be unconstitutional rather than reviewing your policies to see which ones might be worth revisiting and perhaps ending is what leadership really is. caving to university professors (no offense) is no less an abdication of leadership than caving to donald trump. the point of being a president is to lead for the betterment of the entire university now and in the future, not to placate the lunatic fringe of the sociology department for fear they might call you racist, or worse, a jewish sympathizer.
  11. aaron rogers isnt that good anymore. when youre one of the best in the league, you can get away with anything, but when youre not you dont. and if youre a distraction? no one wants you. a-a-ron has yet to adjust to his new reality. shedeur sanders just got an early lesson. and colin kapernick, well...
  12. you should see the nba salary cap rules...
  13. the universities made themselves targets for this. the president is right to keep as low a profile as possible and let it pass. our orange overlord will ignore you unless youre dumb enough to make him mad. this too shall pass... (and besides, a lot of those dei programs are unconstitutional. theyre better off playing it slow, renaming them, incorporating them into other existing programs and keeping the general principles while not being so blatantly violative of civil rights laws) #soapbox
  14. that's just hongbit's wishful thinking.
  15. that doesnt matter to the university president. mary sue sat through the fab five stuff.
  16. you dont think gsw can beat minnesota?
  17. i dont think desantis is a lunatic. he left because of the money, most likely. michigan's regents have been scrambling lately to get rid of the remnants of dei and the palestinian protestors so as to try to avoid northwestern and columbia's fate. so far they've stayed off the radar even if they are "on the list." maybe he got tired of fighting that battle? not sure how michigan's faculty reacted to some of those moves. but i suspect the reason he left was about the money.
  18. florida is a really good school. and they probably offered him more money and he doesnt have to deal with the lunatics at michigan anymore or if trump decides michigan is on his list. win-win.
  19. the rams backed out after gillote (sp?) was picked, i think.
  20. cant root for dillon brooks or jalen green.
  21. none of the above. denver is probably the least objectionable team still standing. or okc. houston and golden state? no on both as long as dillon brooks and draymond greene are playing. minnesota? any team with ant on it owned by arod is not a team worth rooting for.
  22. celtics, knicks, cavs, and pacers? who the hell do you root for?
  23. no, no, maybe?
  24. good riddance.
