  1. Was tough to see the numbers but I'm pretty sure he's the goal scorer
  2. I think we're going to be disappointed if we expect the Wings to bench Chiarot if he's healthy next season. He's got their highest cap hit among defensemen and wore a letter last season so they probably think something of him. I would be shocked if they didn't force him into a sizeable role. I don't necessarily like it but I think we'll see him getting a lot of time with whoever else is paired with him on the second pairing. In a perfect world he plays third pairing and kills penalties but I just am not expecting it. If he continues to decline next season Yzerman is going to have to give a hard thought to getting him off the roster one way or the other for the last two years of his contract.
  3. Ya the earliest estimation he would be back is next month, I haven't seen any rumblings about him coming back so my guess is that he is trending more towards the November estimate. Even if he's back sooner than November he's missing a lot of valuable off season training and training camp, he'll definitely be in Grand Rapids to start the season and there will probably need to be some injuries for him to get the call. My guess is we are going to see: Seider - Walman Chiarot - Holl Maata / Petry - Gostisbehere Even if Simon were healthy he would have had to have a great camp to force his way into the top six (though maybe no Petry trade or one of the signings if he's not hurt and ready for camp?). We probably won't see him or Willy Wally for a bit sadly.
  4. Thinks the game too slowly too. It is a shame I thought he would develop a bit more, he has a decent first pass out of the zone and excels at getting his shot on net through traffic.....otherwise nada. I can sorta see some logic in that Petry and say...Holl will have much more defensive roles compared to Edvinsson and Wallinder's early seasons while the old guys are still around. Still not much room for the young kids sadly, but my guess is Gostisbehere is probably more of an obstacle to the two young d coming up because they'll need to be sheltered. I do feel your concern though, I would love to see the young guys get time and it seems like it'll be tough this season.
  5. Ya they didn't give up much, feels more like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Hopefully Petry doesn't sulk if the Wings are losing like he did in Montreal.
  6. Wings trade for Jeff Petry, hometown boy comes home way too late ugh. Gave up Lindstrom and a conditional 4th round pick but I don't really see the need for this.
  7. I'm there with you, I thought he made a couple solid throws on the run too. He isn't great if you need him on the field to win games, but I would imagine (or hope) that he's good in a the QB room which seems to be what coaches look for in their QB3. That's what I usually assume when these dime a dozen guys stick in the league for so long as backups.
  8. I've really liked what I've seen from him so far. It seems like he instantly is downhill on run plays, plugging gaps with authority, and he hasn't been bad in coverage.
  9. It is always funny to me when non-tough hockey players do goon **** outside of the game for some reason. I am guessing there is more context here. Sprong has a reputation as an asshole (at least from his Pittsburgh days and he doesn't seem to stick with any team very long) but it seems odd for him to just randomly assault someone...
  10. He HAS to be better than Sudfield but Teddy was pretty damn bad playing for the Dolphins last year. He had better receivers to work with in Miami but a worse line and run game so maybe that can get him going...
  11. It looks like Max Bultman went to the tournament because he wrote an article on how good Anton looked at the WJ Showcase with some quotes from his coaches. It sounds like he was solid on both ends of the ice. Right handed defenseman running their top power play unit. Getting even a strong depth defender in the fourth round would be a huge coup for Yzerman.
  12. IIf he could provide dynamic offense at the NHL level it would be a huge addition. It remains to be seen against pros, but he turned that poor kid inside out with a very nice change of direction, and he had great placement on that shot after kicking it up to his stick.
  13. This looks exactly like what they were doing in Sweden! Must be a thing for the region
  14. Ya this X stuff might finally drive me away lol
  15. Elite Prospects probably has the most complete list but i think they're missing people https://www.eliteprospects.com/team/60/detroit-red-wings/in-the-system
  16. I tend to forget about this kid but it seems like he's developing alright.
  17. Ya I think Buffalo is a playoff team this season too
  18. I'm not a huge fan but JFresh's model apparently thinks the Wings snatch a wild card spot with 96 points
  19. Bultman did a mailbag and gave his top 10 prospects with a bonus 11th: 1. Edvinsson 2. Kasper 3. Danielson 4. Mazur 5. Sandin Pellikka 6. Wallinder 7. Cossa 8. Lombardi 9. Soderblom 10. Johansson 11. Augustine Seems pretty good though I might flip Wallinder and ASP based on Wallinder seeming to being on the cusp of solid NA pro play. I haven't seen enough of Danielson or Augustine to get much of a feel, but Danielson makes sense there before we see him in is D+1 season. Lombardi is a wildcard but he seemed to look solid in short AHL time at the end of the season, I'm excited to see what he can do.
  20. Danielson is probably too tall for Wheeler to rate him 😂 Not a huge fan of his lists to be honest.
  21. The hardest of passes. The guy sucks at defense and has legitimately worn out his welcome everywhere. Yzerman already dumped him to the Coyotes after the Lightning drafted him in the first round and he couldn't stop being a ****head in the AHL. The Wings seem to place a good emphasis on leadership and a team mentality I don't see any universe where this makes sense.
  22. Plus minus is a wonky stat too, but outside of Suter and maybe Erne I don't think of any of the departed Wings are very good defensively so they should get a nice boost on that end.
  23. Wings signed Nate Danielson to his entry level deal today. Doing it now instead of after next season allows them to slide his contract two seasons if they wish. He would have been too old next year. I'm am guessing he's headed back to the WHL as he's not eligible for the AHL.
