I wonder if this season’s success will mean they finally take the WCF off the sleeves. Probably not.

365 days from now it might not be so bad. If Young is as bad as he looked this year, they'll be ready to move on and with a high draft pick to do so. But if that comes to fruition, it's likely whoever is hired this cycle will be a one-and-done again.

What's Romeo Crennel up to these days?

It's still one of 32. He's not going to get Harbaugh and he probably won't get Ben Johnson, but someone out there will take it. The money difference is nothing to write off either. The average OC or DC is making $1MM per year with little guaranteed year-to-year, while the entry-level head coach is probably making north of $4MM per year, with guarantees written in. Tepper's only hope for success though is that he stumbles into the next DeMeco Ryans, who will take an undesirable job and run with it. Texans went through four coaches in three years before hiring Ryans, and the Panthers are still less desirable than that because you'll be expected to turn water into wine with Bryce Young (or get fired) and you'll have no high draft picks this year to do it, surrounded by a 2-15 team. Whoever is selected should insist on a long deal with a lot of guaranteed money. If they move on after a year because Bryce Young still sucks, you should be set for life money-wise.

Downgraded doesn’t really mean one thing in the NFL though. They rate their officials on every play. If they rated him poorly on that play, they could say they downgraded him (on that play). Just like any other play where an official makes a comparatively inconsequential mistake. I will say I doubt he makes an appearance in any of the three yet-to-be-announced games, but I think it’s more about face for the NFL than anything. They wouldn’t want the “Controversial Referee Brad Allen Assigned to Conference Championship Game” headline when it’s announced. I really don’t think they think he did anything egregiously wrong.

I'll believe that when I see it. Schefter has his sources, but I doubt that NFL officiating would sell its own under the bus like that. It's bad for business.

I've been following the officials' assignments this postseason... Not one official on the Allen crew has worked a playoff game yet. The closest they've come is as alternates. Allen himself was the alternate for Bills/Steelers. Probably means his whole crew will work the NFCCG next week.

Just realized I got this spot on. Therefore, I will get the Super Bowl matchup correct. I hereby revise my prediction to Lions over Bills, 27-21.

For Michigan's National Championship, my table was seated next to a couple who brought their young (10ish) daughter. The entire time all she did was talk to her friend on the phone complaining about how loud it was and watch TikToks. The only thought I had...... find a damn babysitter!!! They left at halftime.

It makes sense. Houston took J.Okwara's spot on the team, but J.Okwara was inactive against the Rams. He's still got to take somebody's spot on the active roster. Harris was inactive too on Sunday, they only dressed Hutch, Paschal, R.Okwara, and Cominsky at DE... R.Okwara seems like the inactive candidate, but he played 53% of defensive snaps against the Rams... Otherwise, you're maybe considering guys like Benito Jones or Levi to be inactive, or maybe a special teams player like Khalil Dorsey.

I think it's just to do with the difference between plain recovery and actually being back to "football shape". If you or I break an ankle, we can be back to 100% in 6-8 weeks. He was probably able to walk around normally after 6-8 weeks, but it's taking him another 6-8 weeks to get back to a place where he can play football at a high level to be an effective member of the team. Your body learns to compensate in those 6-8 weeks, and now it's got to unlearn that behavior and then re-learn how to play a violent sport. It's probably especially true for a guy like Houston, who relies so heavily on getting low to the ground, being agile with his hips, and planting on a dime.

Why do we want to trade Hooker? Knock on every piece of wood in the two-mile radius, but although Goff has been very resilient in the last three years (owing in no small part to the offensive line), that is not the case league-wide. Aaron Rodgers, Anthony Richardson, Deshaun Watson, Daniel Jones, Kirk Cousins, Kyler Murray, Joe Burrow, Justin Fields, Justin Herbert, Ryan Tannehill, Jimmy Garrapollo, and Kenny Pickett all missed multiple weeks this season, and you could argue that a handful of those injuries substantially effected - if not totally derailed - their team's season. We have him on a four-year contract, and I would be willing to bet (and hope to lose the bet) that even if Goff signs a long-term extension, Hooker would be needed to start at least one game over the next three years. Rather than be relying on Tim Boyle or David Blough or [insert terribly mediocre backup here], I'd much rather be in a position to put our own version of Matt Cassel into the game, having been born and bred into the Lions' system, and then flip him when his value is highest. The board was ready to burst into flames before we signed Teddy Bridgewater, why do we now want to get rid of the next probably-at-least-decent backup for pennies on the dollar?

I think this assumes that Sherrone Moore is equal to Harbaugh at recruiting, or worse. Three straight trips to the semis and a championship should allow for a bump in recruiting. Harbaugh - for one reason or another (not the least of which is this yearly dance with the NFL) - has not seen it happen. I don’t think it’s crazy to think that Sherron Moore could come in and start punching above Harbaugh’s weight in recruiting. That said, I think there would simultaneously be a drop in development, as I agree that that piece is largely Harbaugh. Balancing the two, I agree it would be hard to stay as a national contender like this long-term, but at the same time I don’t think Michigan is destined to go back to 8-4 and an Outback Bowl a la Hoke.

I don't think Lions even actually booed Stafford. They booed the Rams. It's not like a picture of Stafford was shown on the big screen, or his injury report appeared on the screen and people cheered. Not saying those things wouldn't have happened, the crowd was rabid. But still. Differentiating boos of the opposing team and boos of Stafford isn't possible.

Whatever we do, let’s make sure the problem persists for the next 50+ years by building the next stadium outdoors too.

Bad business IMO. The Patriots have not hired a GM and both the Bears and Commanders may or may not want a QB. Hold up a sign that says "trade up to get the 2nd best QB"
