I think Florida State would have been very dangerous. They would have had a month to prepare for a game with nothing to lose, like TCU was last year. Guess we'll never know.

I honestly think we would have matched up pretty poorly against Florida State. Their defensive line might be the best in the country and we saw what Iowa did against Michigan's new offensive line. While Alabama is obviously a very good team, I think they are more balanced in a way that Michigan will be able to combat.

I don't believe that any amount of money will stop teams from making decisions taht will make them more money.

Hell, even Ohio State deserved that spot before Alabama did. Alabama lost to the #3 team by 10 at home, Ohio State lost to the #1 team by 6 on the road. What, because Ohio State didn’t get the honor of beating Iowa we don’t think of them? More deserving than Alabama. No doubt. Trash committee, trash decision.

Michigan was not America’s team before this…. But they might be now. No one outside Alabama will want to see the SEC win that game.

The ACC might lose their conference over this. Why should FSU or Clemson stay in the ACC at this point?

They got this so incredibly wrong. I’m sure if it was Washington instead of Alabama they would have done the same right?? I feel for Seminoles fans. They didn’t deserve to get shafted because the committee couldn’t upset the SEC

Especially when they fumbled the play before but were lucky that it just bounced off the turf and back into the ball carrier’s chest. Just poor clock situation recognition.

What could have been next year: Bye: (1) Michigan, (2) Washington, (3) Texas, (4) Florida State (5) Alabama v. (12) Liberty in Tuscaloosa (6) Georgia v. (11) Penn State in Athens (7) Ohio State v. (10) Ole Miss in Columbus (8) Oregon v. (9) Missouri in Eugene The rankings right now would have Georgia/Ole Miss and Ohio State/Penn State rematches. I flipped the two’s seedings as I suspect the committee would do to avoid those in the first round and drive up the TV ratings.

Florida State’s defense is no joke. I know they were just playing Louisville yesterday, but I think our offensive line would struggle against their defensive line. Alabama is always good but Saban has Smart’s number, especially in the SECCG. It doesn’t always translate to the playoff. I do think the “easiest” route to a natty would be outlasting Florida State in a low-scoring semi and then playing UW in the championship game.

The more I think about the CFP selection, the less debate I think there should really be. You have three undefeated conference champions and the 4th and 5th 12-1 conference champions played each other. If roles were reversed, and Alabama had beat Texas and then lost to Tennessee or LSU, there wouldn’t be debate about putting them in over Texas. Why should there be controversy now? The debate is literally just because instead of shafting the PAC-12, Big 12, or ACC this year, this stupid system that narrows 130 teams to 4 is shafting the SEC. Boohoo. Win the games. Alabama didn’t have to schedule Texas, but they did. Texas didn’t have to schedule Alabama, but they did. This is the consequence of their mutual choice.
