  2. I think Holmes has a 3+ year plan. Part of that plan is building the offense first, and not making any substantial free agency moves until year three. Which is all fine. That said, the team should still be improving on the whole after 24 games under a coaching regime. That’s not necessarily happening.
  3. I wouldn’t put a hard and fast limit on it. I think any sign of improvement will be enough. I almost think a private conversation should be held with Holmes (whose job I think is safe) as to how many games he thinks this team should have won. I also wouldn’t put it past this team to string together a few wins to finish out the season the same way they did last year. If the offense and defense both showed up to the same game we may see a repeat of the Cardinals game from last year.
  4. I was surprised to see Pleasant fired. My immediate reaction is approval though. I think it distinguishes this suck from prior sucks. There is not an attitude of “oh well, we weren’t given anything by Quinntricia”, there is an expectation coming from somewhere in the organization. I also think that Sheila is upset with herself for giving Patricia a third year. I don’t think we finish 1-16. But if we did, I would expect Campbell would be fired, despite the extended timeline he and Holmes were given.
  5. I don’t think the helmet swinger should have made the trip back to East Lansing with the team. They should have been arrested and lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail pending an arraignment on Monday for a charge of felonious assault. The Michigan players shouldn’t have cut the line, and I’m sure the Big Ten will institute policies about that (probably a suspension for a half if you go in before the all clear, or making game officials stand between the teams until the visitors are completely in). Those bringing that the Michigan players though is just whataboutism. The behavior of MSU players was inexcusable.
  6. Michael Badgley is doing well. Seems a good candidate to cut next training camp.
  7. Speilman just announced at halftime that the Lions will be installing an eight-foot statute of Barry in Ford Field. Wonder why they didn’t bring Sheila out again??
  8. Was about to say the same thing. MIA again.
  9. I don’t understand the catch rule but I wasn’t surprised to see that call stand.
  10. About 60,000 clowns in the Ford Field crowd today for Halloween. Most are wearing Honolulu blue.
  11. I’m old enough to remember when Spartans fans wanted Devon Bush arrested for dragging his cleats along their precious logo. I’m sure they’ll demand accountability here too.
  12. I have a 42-10 Michigan win as my prediction. Close for a little before M (literally) runs away with it. Hope I don’t eat this post.
  13. If he intentionally retweeted that, then I'm okay with discipline. It's uneducated and hurtful to the Jewish community and there is no place for it in Michigan athletics. If he did it accidentally (which can happen), then it should be addressed with a statement condemning it (as it looks like was already done) and everyone should move on. I was friends with a student-athlete in undergrad who is a pro athlete now. They once retweeted a racist image in an uncanny resemblance to what happened here. I was (among) the first to notice it, knew there was no way they meant to post it, and I showed it to them. They were mortified that it had happened and instantly deleted it, then retweeted a post from the team account that they had been in from earlier in the year, supporting BLM... And that was that. No one "important" ever saw it and it never made news, though I'm sure it would have had the right (wrong?) people seen it. Accidents do happen when you're on social media enough, especially when a single click on a single part of the screen is enough to retweet.
  14. I see your point too. It's fully possible our defense still would have "collapsed to the occasion" even without the injuries, which occurred primarily on the offensive side. I think my ultimate point is that they're better than their record indicates. Power rankings are inherently trivial, because on any given Sunday the #30 team could beat a top-5 team. Where exactly you plug them is certainly liable to bias.
  15. You named these as draft needs, and generally I would agree with the list. I would add tight end, given a decision needs to be made on Hockenson, and I would have maybe a slightly different order. I would expect the Lions to play a larger role in free agency this offseason though. I think they expect to contend for the playoffs next season, and they are not going to just patch any holes next year, like they did with Chark, or by re-signing Anzalone. Particularly on defense, I would expect us to explore some of the better free agents. JJ Watt will be available if he doesn't retire. If he'd be willing to move to Detroit, he could be a huge veteran presence on the team, even if he's not what he once was.
  16. I think they'd be 4-2, maybe 3-3, if fully healthy. They've played a top five team in the Eagles and three top 16 teams in the Vikings, Cowboys, and Patriots. I don't think it's crazy to put them around the bottom of the top 15 (if they were healthy).
  17. I'd like to get him into some game action this year, just to get his feet wet, but the timetable should be as slow as he needs. Kid has the potential to be the best player we have had since Calvin, no need to f- that up by rushing him onto a losing team.
  18. Has this guy always been a walking meme?
  19. I’m cool with this just because I want a Lions Hooker jersey.
