  1. I sent this yesterday to one of my fantasy football group chats.
  2. This game reminded me a lot of that Saints playoff loss from the Schwartz era, where the Saints did not have to punt a single time. I guess if we are at that level, that's something good. At least that was Drew Brees that burned us though instead of Geno friggin Smith.
  3. The second we won the toss and elected to receive, followed by an opening drive 3-and-out, this board would crash.
  4. I don't think the defense will be as bad as they were against Seattle. For one, it would be nearly impossible to be worse. For another, even if we say that the defense is no better than last year (even though it should be), the trends from last year's worst performances (giving up 44 to the Eagles in week 8 and 51 to the Seahawks in week 17) were followed up with bounce back performances, giving up 16 to the Steelers in week 10 after a bye and 30 to the Packers in week 18. The same holds if you count the COVID-depleted Broncos loss, where we gave up 38 and bounced back to trounce the Cardinals. I also think the Dan Campbell run-through-a-wall mentality works best when there is external motivation in addition to the intrinsic. A lot of these players, particularly on defense, have every incentive in the world to embarrass Matt Patricia's offense.
  5. Stafford just threw a pick six and the Rams look likely to move to 2-2, in a four-way logjam in the NFC West.
  6. If Paschal can just make offensive lines attend to him, Hutch will have a really good second half of the season.
  7. I think it's a fair criticism of the organization en masse, but I have a hard time transferring blame from regime to regime. I don't want to judge Holmes for the 2nd Round blunders that Quinn, Mayhew, and Millen made, because for one it gives me a shorter fuse than is fair to Holmes, and for another, it can quickly dash the hope that I have that Holmes can be the guy that all of his predecessors weren't. FWIW based on 2021 alone, the Vikings didn't have a 2nd round pick but picked Kellen Mond with the 2nd pick of the 3rd round, who they've already waived. The Packers selected the center Josh Meyers, who was also hurt last year - only played in six games - and is starting this year, but is anchoring an offensive line that has allowed Rodgers to be sacked nine times thus far (tied for 10th most in the league). Jury is definitely still out, and it's also worth mention that pick was one selection before the Chiefs also took a center, Creed Humphrey, who was the only offensive rookie to receive PFF 1st Team All Pro... The Bears selected an offensive tackle Teven Jenkins, who was also hurt for almost all of last year, and is now splitting snaps at guard.... on the Bears offensive line. I'm not out here to say "it's okay to whiff because our divisional rivals whiffed too", but taken in context, maybe having a bust in the 2nd Round (at least in 2021) isn't such an indication on a poor GM and scouting department as it was when Quinn took Tavai over Maxx Crosby or Mayhew took Ryan Broyles over TY Hilton.
  8. I think a bit much is being made of the current regime's history on second-round picks. Counting Levi, they're 0/1. Of course the rest of Lions history sucks at second round picks.... pretty much everything related to the Lions history sucks. We shouldn't be surprised. Just because Paschal was hurt though doesn't mean he's going to be chronically hurt like Levi, or that he's even remotely close to being a bust right now. We aren't saying that Jaymo is a bust just because he hasn't seen the field. Let him develop and let's be fair.
  9. 2019 Ravens started 2-2, finished 14-2 before a divisional round exit 2000 Rams started 4-0, finished 10-6 before a wildcard exit 1999 Washington started 3-1, finished 10-6 before a wildcard win and divisional round exit 1992 Bills started 4-0, finished 11-5 and lost in the Super Bowl 1975 Bills started 4-0, finished 8-6 and missed the playoffs. ….. so 80% chance we make the playoffs!! But the Ravens plan of rattling off 12 straight wins now is my favorite.
  10. I think they would have scored a TD in the 4th quarter against the Vikings too if they hadn’t taken their foot off the gas in attempt to bleed the clock.
  11. Listening live and Dan sounded somewhere between annoyed and disappointed to report this.
  12. The offense excites me for the future but it doesn’t take away the burn of giving up 48 at home. Being 1-3 sucks. Having lost the three games by a combined 10 points doesn’t really make it suck less.

  14. No doubt, and I’m sure Campbell knows that too, or will upon further reflection. I didn’t want to hear the same nonsense we seem to hear week in and week out though. I seriously doubt Paschal will be an immediate impact player as a rookie coming off injury who missed all of training camp. But if he’s just good enough to get a little attention off of Hutch, that’s all we need…. To maybe make a team punt…. Once.
  15. The Seahawks schemed around the blitz. They were getting rid of the ball too quickly on those many bootlegs for anyone to get home. I would point the finger at Charles Harris and Julian Okwara more than Hutch anyway. Hutch was getting double teamed, and we need someone to win one-on-one if they’re putting two on Hutch.
  16. I’m not a doctor but this sounds no better than putting Tua out there four days later.
  17. He sounds as pissed as we feel. Say what you will but it’s refreshing to not hear coach speak after every loss.
  18. It’s too easy to blame this exclusively on Aaron Glenn (whose seat is not even warm FWIW). There was a complete and utter lack of leadership on the defensive ball today. NO ONE stepped up to make the play that mattered. Not The #2 pick Hutch, not the captain Anzalone, not the #3 pick Okudah, nobody. Rodgers just threw a pick six though so I feel a little better.
  19. It’s crazy that this offense was missing Swift, ASB, Chark, Jaymo, and two starting lineman, and still put up 45. It’s crazier that it wasn’t enough to win.
  20. Meh. The offense is still clicking. Blaming Matt Patricia for the defense that’s here isn’t going to last as an excuse much longer though.
  21. In year two if this is the best your defense can do, you need to figure it the fuck out real quick.
  22. One stop is all it would take to win this game and they are just completely lost. Probably going to take a Seahawks mistake.
  23. I seriously don’t think the defense could make a stop if their life depended on it.
  24. I should add, it was in the mid-20s when they snapped it. So why wasn’t it killed at 30-something?!?
