Week Six: Detroit Lions (3-1) @ Dallas Cowboys (3-2)
KnoxP replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
I'm prepared for a W. Also prepared for overs on: Lamb yardage, he will get his. Defensive PI calls on Det CB, we play physical and seem ok with that. References to Arnold as "handsy", the moniker was local then Aikman cemented it last game. Lions by 2 scores. -
All the Hendrickson talk aside, I agree. Problem is the Bengals are losing just like that 99% of other teams, so we'll see if they pull out of this or become another of those 99%. They have placed themselves up against it for sure.

From SI: He caused a stir amongst fans online when he posted, "Surgery needed" to social media on Friday. Given his injury history in the young season, fans were concerned about his status moving forward. However, he later clarified that he meant that he simply needed a haircut.

Week Four: Seattle Seahawks (3-0) @ Detroit Lions (2-1)

For me, 14 snaps with 2 offsides, 1 pressure=couldn't have gone much worse. -

He did, and also showed he is very hard to bring down. I was impressed with 'after contact' ability. -

Setting yourself up for most likely to join me as "unhinged" for noticing. -

That may happen some now. It's pretty obvious they think Houston can only do one thing. -

This is my perception as well. -
Saw it called in both NCAA and NFL. ? Won't be a huge deal I hope, just seems silly in this moment to hold a D responsible for causing illegal procedure if they don't enter the neutral zone. And, that's just me.

Week Three: Detroit Lions (1-1) @ Arizona Cardinals (1-1)

I'm beginning to conclude that this has to be more superstition than belief. How can you continue to believe in the face of such strong opposing evidence. It's the lucky underwear mindset. Keep complaining, keep winning. -
Delay of game against the defense? Never seen that called before this weekend and now 2x. Something about the D not getting set before the snap. Am I missing something…what is the logic?

Week One: Los Angeles Rams (0-0) @ Detroit Lions (0-0)

Thought the same thing in the moment. -
Yea, this is a violent game and some is expected. I think hard practice is the best way to prepare for game conditions. You just hope its not too many injuries or the 'wrong' players. FWIW I would suggest there is logic to hard practices they can control to some point vs. hard and uncontrolled preseason games.

Second this question…?
-
exactly!
-
I think that's legit. There were a few guys signed...talented yes as they were NFL players, but yes to appease him...give him all the resources HE wants. And we know practice is far from playing and I would be very surprised if, even in his red jersey, he actually faced 'game conditions' in practice. He is a prima-donna. I'm not rooting for him, but it will be all over the NFL, so I need to accept another year of him.
-
My completely cynical side says all the discussion of quick recovery, "I intend to play this year" talk at the time was done more to feed his need to he seen and heard, than his legitimate belief he would heal that fast, assuming there was some sort of atypical treatment he was undergoing. I don't think that was ever a realistic possibility. It obviously proved out he was not able to return last year. It will be very interesting to see this year, assuming he stays healthy.

Hey all, I am wondering if you have any recommendations for viewing these games outside ESPN? I do not get ESPN and am having some trouble finding sources for the broadcast. DM me or post here...thanks.

This is a classic example of why all of these guys are little more than shouting, trying to be relevant with a cool take, 🤡's. All the supporting 'evidence' they offer for their opinion is past HISTORY, where almost all of the significant variables were changed.
-
It will be interesting to see how it is structured. I would like to believe that if JG and don't forget his agent, did not 'pay more towards the rest of the team' in terms of total contract amounts, they were willing to structure it in it a team friendly manner, whatever that looks like with 170M guaranteed. 😲 With that, I will depend on the more astute cap guys here to explain that when it becomes known.
-
yea...lots behind this we aren't aware of. I read somewhere and also believe that our coaches think they can bring out the best in players. In the absence of other evidence, I got to believe they think DPJ is enough to not spend more on WR, at least any that are/were recently available.
-
I was wondering this also. I know he has boat loads of confidence and I seem to recall he didn’t mind showing that, but locker room cancer is a different beast entirely…
-
Also, this reminds me of what Campbell and Holmes preached early on. Put players in positions to succeed, don't force players into a plan...plan around the player. Coaches should be able to do this. And yes...this will be an interesting year for Glenn with this increase in talent.

The #'s that attended are even more convincing how much Detroit is a sports town and that pride is generated by our teams. It may be obvious...there is causal relationship (is that correct?) between the success of the Lions and the self esteem the city has, which can be a reason for less stupid acts. I imagine this has been studied somewhere by someone. Good for Detroit and the Lions. Don't underestimate what Campbell, Holmes and the players have done for not only the team but also the city. 👍

Grading the Detroit Lions Draft - In 2021
KnoxP replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Lions
I'd go A+. By your own definitions I don't see one hole or missed pick.
