Week Seven: Detroit Lions (4-1) @ Minnesota Vikings (5-0)
KnoxP replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
I'm repeating myself from last week. JJ will get his share and D will give up some passing yardage. Bend don't break, Vikings will have a hard time getting TD's. Lions by 2 scores! -
My take on Holmes is that we can't assume anything. He knew the situation then when he arrived and exceptionally executed a sound strategy to get us where we are now. Two totally different situations and he will execute them independently, without any connections. He full on knows where this team is NOW and that nothing is certain for the future, he also trusts Campbell and Glenn and I think its a "group decision". My opinion is if a premier guy (Crosby, Garrett) means giving up 2 firsts he won't do it...unless he thinks its worth it. HA! I love this speculation though, since it means we are 'this close' to the Super Bowl. Think about how this would be playing out in a SOL scenario.

Interesting point. Makes me wonder if the Alim deal would have been completed now if Hutch does not break his leg, and that's not to suggest that Holmes thinks Alim is less important than he is. If this is true, its a great strategy and evidence that Holmes is staying ahead, not reacting. He's one hell of a GM.

Week Six: Detroit Lions (3-1) @ Dallas Cowboys (3-2)

SAS loves to gloat about Dallas, it’s his identity. It might as well be called theatre. I stopped streaming ESPN about a year ago. I’m not hurting 😁. Is Rex Ryan still around? He’s been a consistent voice that’s gone beyond “the other team sucked” to recognize the Lions. -

I think he tossed the ball towards the Dallas bench. -

This is full-on payback for last year! Campbell keeps his receipts! -

I’d think we all squirm a bit when the d gives up chunks in the secondary. This is a great call by Glenn. -

I'm prepared for a W. Also prepared for overs on: Lamb yardage, he will get his. Defensive PI calls on Det CB, we play physical and seem ok with that. References to Arnold as "handsy", the moniker was local then Aikman cemented it last game. Lions by 2 scores. -
All the Hendrickson talk aside, I agree. Problem is the Bengals are losing just like that 99% of other teams, so we'll see if they pull out of this or become another of those 99%. They have placed themselves up against it for sure.

From SI: He caused a stir amongst fans online when he posted, "Surgery needed" to social media on Friday. Given his injury history in the young season, fans were concerned about his status moving forward. However, he later clarified that he meant that he simply needed a haircut.

Week Four: Seattle Seahawks (3-0) @ Detroit Lions (2-1)

For me, 14 snaps with 2 offsides, 1 pressure=couldn't have gone much worse. -

He did, and also showed he is very hard to bring down. I was impressed with 'after contact' ability. -

Setting yourself up for most likely to join me as "unhinged" for noticing. -

That may happen some now. It's pretty obvious they think Houston can only do one thing. -

This is my perception as well. -
Saw it called in both NCAA and NFL. ? Won't be a huge deal I hope, just seems silly in this moment to hold a D responsible for causing illegal procedure if they don't enter the neutral zone. And, that's just me.

Week Three: Detroit Lions (1-1) @ Arizona Cardinals (1-1)

I'm beginning to conclude that this has to be more superstition than belief. How can you continue to believe in the face of such strong opposing evidence. It's the lucky underwear mindset. Keep complaining, keep winning. -
Delay of game against the defense? Never seen that called before this weekend and now 2x. Something about the D not getting set before the snap. Am I missing something…what is the logic?

Week One: Los Angeles Rams (0-0) @ Detroit Lions (0-0)

Thought the same thing in the moment. -
Yea, this is a violent game and some is expected. I think hard practice is the best way to prepare for game conditions. You just hope its not too many injuries or the 'wrong' players. FWIW I would suggest there is logic to hard practices they can control to some point vs. hard and uncontrolled preseason games.

Second this question…?
-
exactly!
-
I think that's legit. There were a few guys signed...talented yes as they were NFL players, but yes to appease him...give him all the resources HE wants. And we know practice is far from playing and I would be very surprised if, even in his red jersey, he actually faced 'game conditions' in practice. He is a prima-donna. I'm not rooting for him, but it will be all over the NFL, so I need to accept another year of him.
-
My completely cynical side says all the discussion of quick recovery, "I intend to play this year" talk at the time was done more to feed his need to he seen and heard, than his legitimate belief he would heal that fast, assuming there was some sort of atypical treatment he was undergoing. I don't think that was ever a realistic possibility. It obviously proved out he was not able to return last year. It will be very interesting to see this year, assuming he stays healthy.

Hey all, I am wondering if you have any recommendations for viewing these games outside ESPN? I do not get ESPN and am having some trouble finding sources for the broadcast. DM me or post here...thanks.
