  1. WOW! DJ Chark on a 1 year deal for only $10/million is awesome! If gives us the upper hand to negotiate with him during the season if he's looking good or cut bait if he's another bum. Great job by Brad Holmes here.
  2. I would rather get DJ Chark, who is younger and cheaper, than I would overpaying for Robinson if I had to pick one of the Wideouts in free agency. I'd be just fine if we didn't add a Receiver until the draft though.
  3. When you play with all those elite weapons and QBs in the AFC West you have to load up on D and with playmakers of your own if you're the Chargers.
  4. Shad Kahn and Jacksonville are starting out free agency with a trio of outrageous contracts with Christian Kirk becoming the third highest paid WR in the league according to report and then signing DT Foley Fatukasi and LB Foyesade Oluokun to big deals. Trent Baalke was a subpar GM in SanFran and it appears to be no different in Jacksonville. Only now he's got a dumb owner spending like a drunken sailor to aid him on. Shad's son is better at running AEW than his dad is the football team.
  5. I would like to see Charles Harris back and would think it would be a priority. If some team is going to overpay for him, then let them, but I would think given our lack of pass rush and pressure on the QB, Harris would be near the top of their list.
  6. De'vondre Campbell, the Packers other top LB, was the other big free agent target I wanted outside of Marcus Williams. Smith is certainly intriguing given that he had 12.5 sacks just two years ago and was highly productive in his first year in Green Bay. He's 29 and about to be 30 I think, so I worry is he on the wrong side of 30 here soon.
  7. Tim Boyle is back per Dave Birckett . . .
  8. I think every poster here is all in on Marcus Williams. He is such a perfect fit for us. Knows Glenn and Campbell well, talented as hell, scheme fit, culture fit. I really think he is our one, splashy free agent signing this week. I'm with you on Allen Robinson and don't want him brought in. If next season were one where he had our QB in place, the rebuild was wrapping up and we were ready to compete I'd be ready for it. But we are not. I don't think I want any of the top-tier Wideouts in this years free agency class. I'd rather push my chips in on a younger, cheaper player in the draft and hope he develops well.
  9. No, but his whole I'm retired or will I retire this year schtick is old.
  10. We have to sit through another season of all the Tom Brady talk. Just go to Maralago with your boy and go away! I'm so over Tom Brady.
  11. In terms of being a Catholic, it sounds like I did have a rouge teacher. The thing is though, even if the Catholic Church doesn't believe it, the radical right evangelicals do and they are shaping public policy all across the country. In-fact, we are seeing a trend where fewer and fewer Republicans believe in Evolution. There is Pew Research Poll from 2014 on Evolution. 43% of Republicans and 67% of Democrats say they believe that humans have evolved. A majority of Republicans are either unsure and/or believe we were created by the hand of God and have been the same way forever and ever. The data below breaks it down by religion too, where you see a majority of bible thumping Evangelicals don't believe in Evolution. The core point to all of this is that it amazes me how independent-leaning voters overall can even remotely trust Republican politicians more or equal to Democrats on matters of education when you have them out their denying basic scientific consensus, trying to teach Creationism, and ban books all at the same time.
  12. To be clear, this was merely religious education class for me, not school. I went to public schools. But yes, my 4th grade Catechism instructor really did say that to us as students at St. John Neumann Church in Canton. I don't think that's any less ridiculous than people believing the Noah's Arc Story or that someone could turn bread into fish.
  13. When I was a kid my mother forced me to go to catechism class as a Catholic. I want to say I was in 4th or 5th grade at the time it occurred. We had a catechism who actually told us that the Earth was only 7,000 years old and when asked about the Dinosaurs she said that these so called scientists were lying and that people walked around with Dinosaurs. That's a true story!
  14. And for anybody that thinks I am being hyperbolic about Republicans wanting to teach creationism a bill passed last year in the Arkansas State House by Arkansas Republicans.
  15. LOL at voters thinking the party that believes in teaching creationism over evolution and banning books is better on education issues. These fucking people literally believe the Earth is 6,000-7,000 years old. That's as bad as thinking the Earth is flat.
  16. Jim Costa from 97.1 just tweeted this out. I'm guessing it's merely a joke on his part.
  17. What a chippy game tonight. Lots of pushing, shoving, and near fighting going on. Wings/Wild is the new Wings/Avs, tonight anyways.
  18. I wish we had a parliament with Snap Elections.
  19. 3 new post SOTU polls out that all have Biden's polling up to 45% and 2 generic congressional polls that have Dems in the lead as well. Morning Consult: Biden Approval 45%, Disapprove 51% Reuters/IPSOS: Biden Approval 45%, Disapprove 49% Economist/YouGov: Biden Approval 45%, Disapprove 49% Economist/YouGov: Democrats +5 Generic Congressional Race Politico/Morning Consult: Democrats +2 Generic Congressional Race For the record I believe none of these polls, least of all the Congressional polling. I think it will be a 2010 style bloodletting for Democrats because of the usual midterm factors with inflation, gas prices, and a general malaise to boot.
  20. Are chemical weapons a red line? What happens in regards to US and NATO foreign policy towards Russia if they do use them?
  21. Would you trade a package similar to what Denver gave up for Wilson? That likely means giving up 2-3 1st round picks including the #2 this year and the Lions 1st next year.
  22. I think the more people see Biden out there addressing the issues, the better he does. In a digital age, where media is everywhere, the more you can be seen and out in front of issues, the better you will fare. I agree with ewsieg that Biden should do a primetime address over inflation and rising gas prices. He should lay out his agenda agenda again and let the American people know what his administration and Democrats are doing. Were I on his Comms team, I'd also get him on Facebook live and Twitter everyday. Trump may have been what he was, but I think his use of Twitter to communicate to the masses everyday and just spout off what's on his mind was a good idea. The problem for him is that he acted like an asshole, had no message discipline and tweeted insane content and a bunch of lies. I'm 99% certain the tweets and Facebook posts made by "Biden" are from some staffer and not the actual President. Getting Biden out there more personally with his own posts on social media could be effective. Have him check in from the oval office or wherever he is traveling to and let him do Facebook Live videos. Let the people see him in action, working hard everyday on their behalf. Again, the core point is the more people see of Biden, the better he does. He shouldn't be as insulated as he has been at times. Especially now that we are battling through Covid better than ever.
  23. Grandy Jury is supposed to make a decision this week on Deshaun Watson. If he is legally cleared, even if he is a scumbag personally, do you pick up the phone and call if you are Brad Holmes? What kind of offer are you willing to make for Watson?
