  1. JHM is likely a worse defender. They already have LH(Carpy) and RH(Cabrera) designated hitter on the roster.
  2. Not pressure from the fanbase. Most people know the team is horrible and the organization needs another multiple year rebuild. You shouldn't waste professional developmental at-bats on old guys who won't help you in '24-'26. Playing the guys I mentioned above aren't going to help you next season. They're just wasting time.
  3. I'd agree if we had a bunch of guys with a .700 OPS. They are willfully putting together a lineup with guys who are below .600 and have a 3 month sample size. This is still a major league product and they just haven't held anyone accountable for poor offensive performance. We know Schoop is not going to find something; We know that Marisnick will never hit and Haase is probably just lost. This is still purportedly a major league product. You have to at least demonstrate you care about improving it in season. The clearly don't and are willing to live with whatever damage it does to fan support. Addendum: Greene and Baddoo are coming back. That will stem the tide a bit.
  4. Candelario is 29 and had a terrible season in 2022. Both he and the Tigers needed a change of scenery. Are you investing 3-4 years in a guy who is on the back end of the aging curve and not consistent? A 1 year deal to make a terrible offense incrementally better doesn't do much good.
  5. Baddoo will be activated for tomorrow night's game. Greene might be activated on Saturday or Sunday but nothing is set in stone.
  6. It will not come from a dramatic outside signing of an offensive player. It will come from better run prevention.
  7. A team that has that 5-9 in the lineup does not care about winning today's game. That's fine I just wish they would be more upfront about it.
  8. No need to rush Riley Greene. We will see him next Friday in Seattle.
  9. I think Harris will lean into heavy run prevention with his initial team build. They will invest in pitching and toolsy guys who can defend. Power and slugging will come from internal development. And their system is bad.
  10. They're just not as bad as last year. But expecting linear progress isn't realistic with this offense.
  11. The Tigers have told you that their team is garbage with this offense. They know the team needs a huge overhaul. They don't feel like wasting time trying to make this offense better.
  12. There is no in between contact with Tork. It’s a stretch of homers then pop ups and strikeouts. He just does not get on base enough when there is no slugging.
  13. Hinch was really feeling himself during the 971 interview. He loves all the late game pinch hitting. It’s a bit of a make work but he can show his genius.
  14. Ok the starter is an opener. The second pitcher is a lefty. No Carpenter.
  15. genuinely curious why Kerry Carpenter isn’t in the lineup against a righty.
  16. Tim Robinson is throwing out the first pitch
  17. One thing that the Tigers ML report guys mentioned is Tork's poor contact rate in the minors. Colt Keith seems to make contact so that might be a plus in his favor. Jace Jung seems to be have the same issues with making consistent contact....this should be tracked.
  18. We need the Twins and Cleveland Gardenhires to take off here. The 'division race' is screwing with people's brains. The Tigers are not prioritizing winning individual games with the roster choices they are making. We should track young players and basically ignore the rest. They aren't punishing any of the hitters for poor performance.
  19. He can't be optioned and the catchers at Toledo are not viable. We are stuck.
