  1. LOL. Let me guess: he's a "nice guy." And is that a ring on his left ring finger?
  2. This is true-I mostly heard this in the aftermath of the '16 election.
  3. CA seems like it would have the best chance of succeeding on its own. As for NH. HAHAHAHA! I guess I'll find another way to visit Ogunquit.
  4. Welcome back! I was thrilled when I found the new place.
  5. 2FA is what got me locked out, I changed my phone number but neglected to update it on my FB account. Add to that I was using my nickname, which many don't recognize as coming from my 'real' name. My official name is literally on the account, too, but it didn't matter. Although it does show that 2FA works, so there's that.
  6. Social media. After a year and a half, I finally managed to get into an account I've been unable to access. I have to wonder if the powers that be arbitrarily decide if/when people are who they say they are, because I took the same exact steps..... I should probably start collecting emails, and get off of that thing.
  7. And now RIP America is trending on the platform that was formerly known as Twitter.
  8. OK, I lied. I AM surprised. Now how do we best do the work to ensure he doesn't become an Ex-ex president?
  9. Will they be joining the electric car graveyard that currently (or previously, that was a while ago) houses the Saturn electric cars?
  10. Yes, this is just how a lot of his supporters feel. And that makes the whole thing even more disgusting.
  11. That's what's nice about cooperative education and/or internships. You get experience, and are able to help pay for school with the salary you make. It also helps you figure out pretty quickly whether or not you'll be at least recently happy with the path you chose.
  12. Yikes. Some of the things I see people post about what they want to do with "Libs" is bad enough... what that person did is downright stupid. Sadly, I'm not sure that FB will pick it out. They're too busy reporting pictures of fake water parks in Greece. (and yes, I did in fact post a picture of that water park. I know it's fake but so what? It's a cool picture)
  13. The state school I went to in the late 80s/early 90s was about 2K per year... many of us were able to earn most, if not all it with a summer job. Then we could pay rent by working 10-15 hours a week during the school year. We didn't live in luxury, by any means, but still....
  14. Yes, I keep on seeing posts with differences in prices from Jan 2020 and today... shouldn't the comparison also include/take into consideration COVID? Asking for a friend.
  15. Definitely. For me, Biden and I differ on quite a few things-still closer to my views than a 'sane' version of Drumpf would be tbh. That Biden's not a megalomaniac makes the choice even easier.
  16. I have a couple of MAGA relatives telling me to stop worrying about my 'feelings' and vote for the 'better economy.' On the average, is this why many of us prefer Biden over Trump? Do they really think it's because our feelings are hurt? I'm curious about what the rest of you are seeing.
  17. I think a lot of people don't realize how much of our lives depend on things the government provides, and how many things are paid for with taxes (roads, 'free parking,' etc). No man is an island.
  18. I've met quite a few people like that. They're against welfare..... but they themselves are on welfare. Of course, they're deserving of it, and prayed to get it. There's also a fairly famous author who was a Libertarian, but whose family benefited from the Homestead Act, and a whole lot of other supports from the government. Sigh.
  19. I agree, probably an age or even an experience level thing. That said, that whole experience sounds bizarre-hopefully she was just having a bad day and this isn't her usual way of interacting with patients.
  20. I am once again reminded of one of my pet peeves, while trying to plan a vacation. I asked people to let me know 1, what kind of lodging they want, and 2, how much they want to spend. The answer ranged from nothing at all, to "whatever you decide is okay with me." I'm guessing you can guess what comes next-I choose something, and all of a sudden everyone has an opinion (generally that everything about my choice is wrong). Now the prices have gone up, and it looks like it's too much now. I should know by now to plan my own vacation, and then whoever wants to come can join me.
  21. Some recent books, in no particular order: Tightrope Poverty, By America They Were Her Property Send For Me Forgotten Girls Sunflower Sisters Also a bunch of cozy mysteries Next on my list is The Bookseller of Dachau. I'm thinking I need to read something light and funny... but I keep saying that and keep ending up with interesting-but depressing- material.
  22. I was thinking Stepford Wives.
  23. Is she a fundamentalist? Women in fundie groups are actually taught to talk like this.
  24. I recently re-discovered The Stompers on You Tube, and it brought back some good memories. I'm not sure how well known they are outside of the Boston area, but I'd describe them as a cross between Tom Petty and The Stray Cats.
