  1. I will give you that argument. He has done so many annoying things throughout his career (life). He has an issue with his family. In my opinion he is just one of those guys that seem to cause issues with his team and with anyone that he is around. That being said I would of loved to have him on my team in his prime lol
  2. Most will agree now that the gov't or the NFL or colleges should not of required individuals to take the shot because it did absolutely nothing to prevent from the spread. It was a lie (or at the least misinformed) and its absolutely been proven to not stop the spread. He was a healthy individual and it was definitely the right decision for him. I really don't want to get into something that sounds like a political discussion (even though it shouldn't be political). Now on how he went about it or the fact that he lied is a different story and can be debated. My statement also has nothing to do with fact that I think he is a cancer and I wouldn't want him on my team.
  3. After last nights game. Would you want Mathurin over Ivey in the 2022 draft? You can't use Ivey's injury why you would want Mathurin. Ivey looked like he would of been a huge asset this year after some major improvements (specifically 3 point percentage). Some think we went on our run because Ivey went down. I am not one of them and think they were already on the run with him. Would you trade Ivey for Mathurin straight up? I remember this being a huge discussion on who they should take (Murray was also in that discussion before he got taken before Ivey).
  4. I think most could agree his stance on COVID were proven right after time. How he went about it was terrible though. I would also agree he is a narcissist and no way I would want him on this team if Goff went down (at this point in his career). Just think he is one of those players that can divide a locker room and really QBs should be uniting.
  5. Welcome to being a good franchise. We are going to lose people to free agency. We are going to lose coordinators. Good/great players are going to retire. What good GM's do is they replenish constantly in the draft. With the salary cap it is essential to have good to great drafts to constantly be a good team. I know last year didn't look like a good draft but that can change very quickly. With the Lions not having that once in a lifetime QB, they need to be a top 3 team on drafting and developing players to be a superbowl contender for years to come. Free agency and trades should only be used to plug a couple of holes by players leaving or injuries. I honestly think if they had a normal injury year or even just a bad year (not one of the worst ever) they would of won the superbowl. Philly stayed relevantly healthy. I think the biggest question to have right now, is do you want them to spend the extra cap space this year and go all in. Or do you want them to be patient and transfer it to next year so they can retain their own players. I personally would like them to take a chance and go get a player like Hendrickson, knowing they will most likely lose a player like Jamo or Laporta. My thought is if Brad is as good as he has been he will replace those players in the draft. I still have in Brad I trust if he doesn't though. If we don't win the superbowl in the next two years, my trust in him will go down some. My trust right now in Brad is a 9 out of 10. If we don't win in the next two years it will go down to a 6-7.
  6. I understand the concerns although this is what good teams have to overcome. Last year they went 15-2 with possibly one of the worst strings of injury luck for a contender maybe ever. I do think that they can't keep on taking on hits to the jaw without seeing it affect them. Were not going to know how bad this and the coordinators change is going to affect them until we see them on the field during the regular season. Good thing is when you have a great GM, you can react and it seems pretty clear the Lions new this was happening prior to the draft with their draft picks. One advantage this year and I feel like its a huge advantage is that for such a young team they have a crazy amount of experience and success and they are all now a year older. Its crazy looking at this team and seeing how old some of these players actually are.
  7. I would do this trade. You have two top 10 players for a long time. I will say though that this is what annoys me the most about the NBA. If you really want to compete every year you have to have multiple superstars that you rarely draft yourself. So your developing players just so you can trade them for a super star.
  8. The main reason why the Lions didn't trade for Pickens or MetCalf, or sign Adams.....etc is because of salary. Pickens is going to want a big contract. Teslaa will be on a rookie contract for a while. Why waste a 3rd round pick, you would just sign Jamo (and they still might). There might be some attitude by I think its more about the contract he is going to want than attitude.
  9. It is definitely fun to compare what draft grades were a few years ago. I also like the redrafting articles. Although we all know the draft grades by these so called draft gurus don't mean anything. How many years have the Lions won draft day according to these same guys. The only thing I worry about this regime is they don't get overconfident with their draft success. I don't feel like that will be the case with Holmes although we have been burned before. For the last 3-4 years I was OK being a top team without a SuperBowl. Now the next two years need to net us a SuperBowl or this will be another Detroit sports team with missed opportunities. Going to work Pistons should of had multiple championships if they drafted anyone out of that draft but Darko. The Verlander Tigers should of won multiple world series. It just shows you need to keep your foot on the gas and not get overconfident with your early success.
  10. I also think he has a history of reaching and being right on WR's. Not just with us but with the Rams. He hasn't been 100% on them but a pretty good track record. Its nice we have a guy that's pretty universally thought of as a top 5 GM in this league. A lot of people have not been happy with his FA pickups but I look at that portion of his tenure as different because of his success in the draft. Maybe the biggest knock is he swings for the fences with injury plagued guys looking for a discount.
  11. I just don't like the fake outrage (because they want clicks) that goes on now and then it results in someone's life being ruined. We are all just discussing what happened and that is fine. Its not cool what he did to these players. We are also talking about some of the toughest people on the planet. I am not sure I want a player that would be destroyed by this on my team. Howard Stern's staff (or Drew and Mike) didn't just do dumb prank calls. They got personal sometimes. A lot of the time on red carpets or calling players on sports teams before they woke up. These are just some small sample sizes. If you listened to them as I did, some were a lot worse than what he did. I can guarantee if a staff member of Howard Stern (back in the day) could of done what he was able to pull off, they would of in a second without any remorse. Not justifying either of them, just saying we shouldn't over punish the kid. How many 21 year olds would take the opportunity to do what he did if they could get away with it. Heck, I think a lot of adults would. The fact is since caller ID and the ability to find out who does the pranks, they just don't happen as much anymore. Actually, crime in general is very hard to get away now with cameras everywhere. This can also be a great lesson for kids in today's world. That whatever you do on social media could come back and bite you in multiple ways for the rest of your life.
  12. Listen, I don't like what he did. Regardless who it is, I am never OK kicking someone when they are already down. That being said, they are just prank calls. He shouldn't be canceled like he got accused or rape or killed someone while drinking and driving. Obviously prank calls are not as popular as they use to be. I am just wondering if this was Howard Stern's staff or your local radio station if everyone would be so upset?
  13. This is kind of what I was saying about BPA is different as your team gets better and you have less holes. Especially after what happened last season with injuries. You want to be able to add quality depth. So the players you are interviewing more are areas you want more depth. I also think people get caught up in what the so called experts are saying with mock drafts and while watching the draft. If you look at the trades the Lions made in the draft, they weren't giving up assets for a position that the team already has good depth at. I think the Lions would of drafted Will Johnson if they didn't like their depth in the secondary. He seemed like the Branch pick which was a value pick that worked out great.
  14. BPA isn't an exact science. BPA usually means BPA on their board (not Mel Kipers board) and I am pretty sure most teams make those boards a lot on (starter) need because who they focus on. If they were slim on corner they probably would of interviewed more corners and therefore had more corners on their board like they did last year. I also think the media and people posting obsess with comments about GM's drafting for need. You also have to adapt to the position your in. When your rebuilding, you also have the luxury of true BPA. When your a top team, BPA is something different. If I could be a fly, I would be more interesting in knowing where everyone was on their board and the comments for each of those players. Like was Mike Green or James Pierce on their board with an asterisk? What did they think of the players that were drafted before their pick and what grade was a player like Graham, Grant, or Nolan compared to Williams. Was their someone that they wanted that they tried to trade up to get because they were in a higher tier. Stuff like that is more interesting to me. I am usually more interested in previous coaches and GM's points of view compared to Kiper.
  15. It will be interesting to see Holme's approach the next couple of years. Eventually he is going to have to let players he has drafted go by either trading or taking comp picks. He hasn't had to yet except for a couple of players that were lower on depth chart like Iffy. If he can continue to draft as good as he has so far, letting some drafted players leave shouldn't be a big issue. I think a lot will depend on the position, fit to the team, and if they are at the top of their positions. I don't think he has to make the decision on both Laporta and Jamo with the cap going up each year. If he had to choose 1 I think he chooses to trade or let Jamo leave.
