  1. Can't I give this more than one like?
  2. Thank-you Admiral McRaven.....
  3. LOL - IIRC, when we moved to MN they still hadn't computerized the DMV, and that was 30 yrs after 1970! They were just working on it in the late 2000's. It was a strange outlier since in general government services seemed far better there than in MI.
  4. If Paredes makes the team.
  5. HaHa - I don't know - it would be an interesting battle in futility!
  6. I generally agree with the career arc theory saying that guys that got good late will get bad early, but in Candelario's case, IIRC correctly there were some recurring issues with his wrist that may have been impacting his performance. He actually looked like a pretty promising hitter in his age 23 year and then kind of regressed. Was that injury or not? I'm not arguing it either way, the team has the records to better make that determination but I would put it out there as a factor to add to the decision matrix. Some guys hit their stride late for unique reasons other than the career arc paradigm - JD for instance.
  7. Linkedin is terrible.
  8. Yeah - Candy looks kind of frumpy physically. OTOH - Beltre was a good example of a guy where you'd be misled if you judged his defensive longevity based on the fact that he never looked cut.
  9. I can't tell from your pick how tall the fence is. I'm guessing this is like a 4 footer? If so the deer could go over easily enough I wouldn't think they'd bother spending the energy to push. Coyote? Canids are natural jail breakers. If my perspective is wrong and it's 6ft+ then i could see deer. But it's funny, in our area - where there are a ton of deer, even chickenwire normally keeps them out of places. Our local deer don't seem to have much tendency to work past barriers.
  10. Jeimer shouldn't be playing 162 games. He's not a reason that you shouldn't have a spare 3b. If Paredes doesn't make it and Willi and Niko are not on the team (Please!) then Tork being worked out at 3rd and Schoop/Cabrera at 1st/DH all works fine for giving Jeimer an occasional off day. So I still want him to be able to play there if his play there can cut it. Not to mention, guys get hurt. If he can, I'd sure rather have Tork playing 3rd every day than Harold Castro if Jeimer were to go down. I don't see any other solid backup 3b - it could be Paredes - maybe, but it's still not clear he will stick.
  11. Whichever, I'm still on board with the occasional execution of an admiral.
  12. File that under "Spirits Filled Retreat"
  13. Bah - Humbug!
  14. yeah - Tampa IFs with the yips. Rushing on plays when they have way more time than they think.
  15. Kiermaier to Arozarena on the fly ball: "get out of my way kid, I've got a throw to make.'
  16. Tampa Bay fights their way back into the game, then Wander Franco air mails a throw to 1st into the dugout on a play where he had more time than he though. Boston with lead run at 2b with no out in the 8th
  17. They wanted to give Short, Paredes, Kreidler, Clemens and who knows who else all time on the Hen's IF - i.e. it was already crowded before Tork got there. It made sense to leave him at 1st.
  18. not if you end up moving him back the rotation, which they should be thinking about if they aren't.
  19. Trump was the one man who could have actively fought the anti-tax movement successfully. He didn't do squat. They had to pull teeth just to get him to make a lukewarm endorsement of the vaccine long after the fact. He never made any serious attempt at pushing *his* people in the positive direction and never took on any of fake reality peddlers in his own party or his buddies like Hannity at Fox. That's just the reality. Even at this late date - you think he might cut a pro vax PSA? You'd be kidding, right?
  20. Think about it: You would think a president would come into office hoping to spend his political capital trying to accomplish something positive. GW decided to spend his trying to democratize the ME. Foolish goal but ethically laudable - at least initially. Obama spent his trying to get people more health care and it cost his party dearly. Trump could have spent his directly saving people's lives -- how much better could you do that that? But NOPE, he wasn't having any. A sad man, a tragic man, and a tragedy for the country.
  21. yup. Almost every US death recorded since this summer is due to vaccine hesitancy, and Trump is maybe the one person that could stopped that from ever taking hold. Really - it's all on him, both the crimes of commission and omission.
  22. I'm still not absolutely, totally sold on Jeimer. If he's doing well by the ASB next year I'd be ready to make the commitment.
  23. woundn't think so, but at the time I had seen no report for the reason that he didn't play the last day.
  24. it's true he didn't play in the last game. I wondered if it was just so his BA couldn't fall below 300. Woozy makes more sense.
