Getting kinda close to thinking Parker Meadows might be worth looking at over Baddoo tbh -
The Federalist has seemingly wanted Biden impeached from day one, so not sure how un-"impeachable" their credentials are on this.

I don't even understand the point of the last post... Like, yeah, no **** the NYTimes is dumb and out of touch.... a lot of people on the liberal side of the spectrum would agree these days lol

Didn't realize how much Gavin Cross hit the skids once he got to High-A... dang

Right.... "cancel culture" has always existed, but the only reason we hear about it now is because causes that used to be taboo, such as LGBTQ rights, are now ascendant. And there are a lot of folks, whose causes or views previously were more predominant, are really unhappy about that.

I'll take you at your word when you say that you've always felt that way, but conservatives have largely failed to "walk the walk" on this stuff for a long long time. I'm old enough to remember the Iraq War, for instance.... conservatives didn't call it "cancel culture" back then because they were the ones doing the "canceling"

The Rangers lost 16-3 yesterday. The Giants lost 10-1 against the Nats! Games like last night just happen sometimes. -

100%. Also as a practical example that we should all be able to understand, let's consider Will Vest who, for all intents and purposes, has been a pretty effective reliever for this club the past couple of years. He was returned by the Mariners after posting fairly terrible numbers... granted in their situation it made sense since they were competing in '21, but ot also kind of stands as an example of how past isn't always prologue as well. -

Probably... In general, I think baseball fans tend to overreact to one game more than they should in a 162 game season. -

Free agency and trade returns in exchange for their services are the wildcard. With trades, we always assume it's for hitters, but who knows... -

Correct. But nonetheless, the Tigers ticket into the playoffs is through their division. When statements are made about how far the team is out from the playoffs, the division they play in seems like an important consideration. -

Alternatively, maybe they just had a bad game today? Even the good teams have their ***es beat from time to time in this sport. -

Similar to the O's, Texas wouldn't be where they are right now without homegrown talent. Fwiw -

They also play in the AL Central, which lowers the bar to competition a bit. -

If he wasn't a Rule 5 pick, he wouldn't be worth a roster spot right now. But that is the sacrifice teams make... if they believe in his tools and aren't all in on making a run while 7 games out, there isn't a discussion to be had about dropping him. No matter what the bloggers at BYB think -

If you think there's gonna be rain, seems like the smart play would be to consider an opener and bringing Manning in afterward. But there may be other considerations that we as fans don't realize, idk -

If the general belief is that this team isn't going to make the playoffs, I guess I'm unclear as to why they wouldn't try to carry the Rule 5 guy for the rest of the year if they like his tools and want him to remain in the system. -
The fans view of Jobe is so colored by Marcelo Meyer that it has obscured that Jobe really is a talented prospect in his own right. It's really that simple. And while I get it, I wish he wasn't so defined by that and I dont think he should be imo.

Also, who cares?

BREAKING NEWS -
A lot of that obfuscation gets down to questions of what it means to "love" America. To be quite frank, I just think a lot of conservatives (not all, but quite a few) take the view that to love the country is to never question its past and just talk about how great it is... no introspection, just empty patriotism that wraps itself in the flag. It doesn't demand improvement, it's just stagnant and incapable of improvement Just as all of us have family members in life who maybe struggle with various flaws and who we would like to see overcome, I would argue that to love isn't to run away from the problems and to just be comfortable with the status quo, it's to deal with the flaws and make this country, that is already great in many ways, even greater. Collectively, I think we do more of the latter now than in the past. But because of that, the insanity from those who prefer the former approach is just amped up to a greater degree. And we see it manifested in the kinds of bat**** crazy comments like the one Ron DeSantis uncorked above And yeah, a lot of moneyed interests are more than willing to exploit those differences

Exactly, it comes down to free will. The fact that (some) slaves learned some skills doesn't abrogate the denial of free will to said slaves. And as far as the added context is concerned, I'm not sure why it's needed... like, no **** they learned some skills, their literal existance was to do labor that white owners didn't want to do. That's just implied.... It all just strikes me as a way to excuse the behavior of the past and to tell a sanitized version of history, and it's BS. And for my part, it's not the reason we are moving back up north, but a significant benefit to making the move is hopefully not having to worry about my kids being taught a sanitized version of American history whereby the Confederates "had their reasons" or whatever BS

I would take the fact that other contenders would trade for him as a piece of evidence that he's more real than not. A complement of sorts. In and of itself, though, it's evidence that the smart move would be to hold unless someone wanted to pay a premium for his services. He's just controllable for far too long, and his power bat from the left side, as G2 suggests, just doesn't have a lot of match for anyone coming up in the system.

There really is an asymmetry in how liberals/anti-Trump conservatives are chided if they don't walk on eggshells in expressing their displeasure or disagreement with Trumpy figures, yet there are no expectations at all of Trumpy types who get to attack people or places (ie. Chicago, California, etc.) without any expectations of decorum whatsoever. Without knowing the details of this Jason Aldean thing, that's all I'm gonna add.
