  1. The argument (and perhaps accurate, hard to say tbh) is that they called it too early based on the information that the Fox Elections desk had at the time. You are correct that it wouldn't have affected the outcome and that, ultimately, I doubt that Chris Stirewalt or Arnold Mishkin lose their jobs if not for the absolute fury that the de facto head of the GOP and his cohort unleashed on FOX.
  2. I mean, come on...
  3. One of the reasons they don't suck as bad... FOX's news side has a few good people mixed in, but that number has thinned out over the years. And, not surprisingly (see the 2020 election, Arizona call specifically), that thinning out was in part due to political pressure from people associated with the GOP. (ie. FOX's de facto bosses) You add that to the defamation suits, and it paints a really clear picture of how one outlet is orders of magnitude more ****ty. And it doesn't make one "love" MSNBC to be up front about the differences.
  4. I'm not fine with MSNBC... MSNBC sucks imo. But Fox just sucks more.
  5. Spent years trying to argue this level of nuance, on multiple boards and with posters who didn't make the transition to the new board, to no avail. I dont take in any of it, cable news is largely garbage. But MSNBC having a liberal slant, in and of itself, does not make them a mirror image of Fox News, or mean that they have the same editorial issues that Fox News has.
  6. It says a lot about Republican donors think this, and not the fact that Scott is polling in low-single digits, is alarming.
  7. Probably a case where he is just now seeing his performance rise to where his grade and rankings were set. Put another way, he's been on most of the Top 100 lists for a while now, and he's just now starting to perform like one.
  8. Granted views probably encapsules a lot of views from outside of the US / bots / etc., but there's zero question in my mind he drew a lot more viewership than the "Omega House Couch" debate drew.
  9. My reply is probably better suited for the Media Meltdowns thread in the Political Forum, but I'll just say it here anyway: this is one of those stories put out by that particular outlet that centers around nutpicking Twitter rando comments and trying to create news out of it. And this isn't the first time they've done it (though, to be fair, they aren't the only one who does it either, although it seems like they do it more than other large outlets) It's garbage journalism, but they know what they are doing when they are doing it, and it works for their business model.
  10. Eddys Leonard looks like a real find....
  11. Granted life has been busy, but I honestly forgot there was a debate going on last night.... which kinda gets to the point that the whole charade is irrelevant and that none of these folks is likely to be the nominee when it's all said and done I'll be genuinely curious as to what the ratings were.... I can't imagine they were high on the debate last night.
  12. Don't want to take anything away from Kerry Bonds, but leaving Taillon in there in that situation was Ausmus-esque by David Ross lol
  13. Not sure there's enough meat on the bone to have warranted the story by Fox News here....
  14. He's building a team to help them move to Nashville lol
  15. Yeah, I was thinking more of the middle-middle talent with my comment... even in that area, the Tigers were probably more at a disadvantage last offseason than they will be going into 24. And that's OK.... if the goal is something like being "AL Central competitive" in 2024 and "Competitive competitive" in 2025, you can work with that imo
  16. Their catching situation is probably about as good as it's been for a long time, although that's a low bar.... they can compete with what they have IMO, though they'd have to get better production out of other positions.
  17. Setting aside the fact that they are going to have money coming off the book with Miggy's retirement and ERod's likely opt-out, I do think, to the extent that results on the field impact the thinking of free agents looking at the options, they have made themselves a more marketable destination over the course of this season versus what they were going into last offseason as well. Put another way, the team looks a lot less hopeless now than it did 300 days ago. Granted the class of position players isn't great, but certainly I feel like they should have some options to backfill Eddie or even find the next Lorenzen should they identify that person.
  18. Also heard on the The Cody and Friend Pod that Tucker Barnhart, who the Cubs somehow decided was worth a 1 year deal with a player option, was DFA'd on the very same day. Small world!
  19. I've put a lot of faith in Harris up till this point, but without seeing the return, I'd be questioning that faith if he did something like that. Really, with both Greene and Tork, I think the conversations being had are probably more about extensions (Greene particularly - Tork has had a nice surge but we'd like to see a little more consistency)
  20. There's a pretty wide gulf between trading top prospects for major league talent and trading young controllable former 1-1 picks for prospects, and I suspect the Tigers fall squarely in between that.
  21. Yeah, nothing would piss me off more as a fan than waiting on Tork for some 800 plate appearances to turn the corner with the bat, only to then trade him for some prospects that theoretically may not even pan out. Work with him on the defense, or even give him some reps at DH... but right there with you on trading him.
  22. Also a good example of how quickly fortunes can change on this front.... The gnashing of teeth after Law ranked them 30th hasn't aged like most people expected it would (Law included), one would guess.
