  1. LOL at the guy in the comments saying "bring him back"
  2. It's helps to understand and acknowledge that, with a few exceptions, most of the party tends to approach policy by starting from a conclusion (ie. whatever points them at odds / against their political enemies) and working backwards, when thinking in terms of policy requires the inverse of starting from a place of factfinding and working toward a conclusion. And if you're starting from a conclusion and working backward, you are never going to exhibit anything resembling ideological consistency.
  3. It would also be nice if he held it through the Tigers weekend visit to Chicago in early September lol
  4. Uhh, beginning to think this Torkelson kid isn't a BUST
  5. I doubt it would change any minds per se, but my two cents on a televised trial is that anything that puts Donald Trump front-and-center in the news (such as an ongoing trial) is gonna remind a lot of voters in constituencies particularly put off / moving away from the GOP post-2020 (ie. suburbanites) of why they dislike the guy so much. And on the whole, that's a negative for him. Just my two cents.
  6. Exhibit 209527089 as to why it's insane that people sidle up to this guy.... he considers everyone expendable.
  7. This framing in the byline for a poll showing nearly 2/3rds of Americans having an unfavorable view of Trump is just wild...
  8. Part of the issue too is that most of the opinion content out there is based in DC or New York and more than a little divorced from what things are like in the rest of the country. The way COVID (and related restrictions) was (and still is) addressed is a good example... the lived experience of most people putting out the content came from those living in jurisdictions that weren't necessarily representative of the how the rest of jurisdictions were handling the virus (ie. more restrictive than most) and that biased the content based on how it affected them personally Subsequently, at least IMO, the general response and use of restrictions tends to get framed as being more unpopular than they actually were.
  9. Ric Grenell would have been a good guess too...
  10. Regarding Point 2, the relative lack of noise in the post-2020 years doesn't mean that people aren't still really tired of Trump and wish he would just go away.
  11. Mike used to give sermons on "moral relativity" and the like back in the day too, I'm sure.... I remember hearing that stuff when I was being brought up in the 1990s. Even though it was always the case, it just something else at how obvious (and shambolic) it has become at how little people of Mike's tribe actually care about morals or anything like that.
  12. It's really kind of amazing how much a lot of GOPers, particularly ones in Trump's orbit, talk in mob language.
  13. Ahh, yes, the report that he's had 2.5 years to work on lol
  14. Jim Jarvis has been on a bender since getting to Lakeland as well....
  15. Lakeland is actually leading the FSL West standings-wise in the second half fwiw.... (Granted standings don't matter that much)
  16. Meanwhile, the Kansas City Royals.... woof. I still remember listening to a podcast with Keith Law last year where he stated point blank that he thought the Royals were ahead of the Tigers... as hard as the situation has been here, just don't see it.
  17. Lockhart and now Eddys Lenoard.... it's not a bad org to pick up some cast offs from.
  18. Lael Lockhart is probably more of an org guy, but he's been an under-the-wire solid pickup off the Dodgers by Harris' team
  19. It's ironic because they are both Kansans, but his voice reminds me of Jason Sudeikis...
  20. I'll be patiently awaiting comment from Jeff Seidel, but I will not hold my breath
  21. Low key one of Jimmie's best assets was his ability to call out the bad when he saw it. Whether it's because of his stature (ie. being so long tenured with the club) or because he was on radio or otherwise, it's just not something you really get with the other color guys. Particularly on the TV side
  22. As angry as the Fulmer trade made us all at the time.... dude kinda is showing a little value maybe?
  23. I like Bobby Scales more than others probably, but otherwise I agree....
  24. This is 100% true.... he was one of a kind. I'll miss him
