  1. I doubt the NFL had that in mind when they put the schedule together, but it definitely works out for sure.
  2. As if Scott Harris' current approach hasn't lead to a ton of criticism lol
  3. What about 84 instead of 90?
  4. Also a decent couple of weeks may be enough to finish 2nd place in the AL (Comedy) Central... As bad as the division is, that also looks visually more appealing!
  5. Actually, Trump hates our military, Exhibit 3749593
  6. Somebody didn't watch The Wire lol
  7. I don't know that they'll make it to 75, but I feel solid about beating 90 losses at this point.
  8. I'm guessing maybe less lionizing of Buck Farmer will ensue after today's outing?
  9. Don't forget "Downriver Johnny" Schreiber...
  10. Even so, there's been a lot of "unsupported assumptions" about what management did or didn't do as far as a Plan B for Eduardo rejecting a trade, or even that there existed much of a market past the Dodgers for his services. All questions we don't know - when you add the opt-out and the absence last year, people should be open to the idea that maybe the Dodgers were the only alternative that made sense.
  11. The fact that they were playing the Packers was a factor in the hype we heard this week - a lot of people talked themselves into the idea that this was the time for the long losing streak to come to an end because, of course it was time for it to come to an end. Justin Fields is great, the Pack doesn't have #12 anymore, yada yada. The Packers will have their struggles this year, new young QB and all.... but it's almost as if simply switching out #12 for Jordan Love doesn't inherently make them a 4-13 football club either.... they have some weapons on the offensive side, particular at RB, they have a pretty good defense, etc. But regardless, that's how a lot of folks I noticed, both in media and in person, approached this matchup... and as we learned yesterday, the club that's closer to being a 4-13 club is, same as it ever was, the Chicago Bears. It really is glorius! I never thought I'd enjoy watching them lose as much as the Cowboys, but it actually gets kinda close!
  12. And I have suggested in this thread that I was wrong at the time and that, while only one start, SGL's performance yesterday makes one think about the reaction that the trade elicited at the time in general.
  13. First season of football living in Bears country... boy, did they not live up to the expectations set by everybody in these parts lol. It's almost comical the disparity between expectations and results today
  14. I just have a long memory... if he keeps it up, it'll be no different than Kerry Carpenter. Who clearly never stood a chance of making it
  15. I'm not trolling. If you are enjoying his success today, you should feel comfortable acknowledging the skepticism last year.
  16. No, Al was terrible. But we can acknowledge when he made good decisions? Or even when those decisions worked out, can we not? Just for objectivity's sake???
  17. The first guy who hugged him in the dugout today after his outing was Gabe Ribas... who was hired by Al.
  18. Here's another doozy, granted from a lurker... But yeah, I'm just full of it when I suggest that Tigers fans by and large didnt think the trade was fair value lol
  19. I could go on but, by and large, nobody expected this kid to succeed... and hardly anybody thought the trade at the moment was fair value.
  20. Let's refresh our memory...
  21. Would you not agree that there was a lot of anger and resentment at the end of the last deadline based on the returns?
  22. Sure, he should have traded Fulmer a lot earlier. No argument there. But there was a collective freak out (myself included) when all the last deadline yielded was Fulmer for unranked Sawyer Gipson-Long. It appears that Gipson-Long, in fact, may have been fairer value than we all thought.
  23. The reaction to the trade suggested that it was an example of how terrible Avila was that he didn't get more for Fulmer's services.
  24. Thus far I've resisted the whole "maybe Al wasn't that bad"... thing. But I do think the collective freak out when Michael Fulmer only returned unranked Sawyer Gipson-Long makes one think...
