  1. No doubt, for as much as you saw complaints about Reyes or Castro^2 or Soto in season, there's like a Stockholm Syndrome type thing that some of the fanbase appears to have toward them now that they are gone. The devil you know vs the ones you don't maybe? I dont get it As far as the Vierling comparison goes, again, setting aside even just metrics, he was good enough to be on the playoff roster for the Phillies while Reyes, this offseason, couldn't land more than a minor league deal and ST invite. The assessment from the league couldn't be any clearer on this question.
  2. As I stated, I nutpicked a dumb opinion from Tigers twitter lol. I dont care that much, it just caused a double take on my part
  3. Not to mention he's a way more patient hitter as well over Victor, who had a Javy-esque walk rate. I agree with all of this and that Vierling may not be a game changing acquisition, I just see a lot of evidence that suggests that Vierling clearly is a better player.
  4. I hate to go nut-picking and all, but did a double take with this one. You would think that there was a reason Vierling was on the Phillies WS Roster, while Victor couldn't get more than a minor league deal this offseason.
  5. Yeah, this is important context for sure.
  6. They'll also be out on an island as well... Mitch and Co. appear to have zero interest in another debt ceiling fight
  7. Cubs apparently have interest in a Chafin reunion... fits his Midwest criteria
  8. Most people aren't politically tuned in enough to care about either case, if we are being completely honest. Like, in the past election, how much of a factor was the document scandal versus economics or abortion or even J6?
  9. Hot take: most people will be able to discern the difference between the two cases, and those who were already turned off by Trump will not be more open to him on account of this news or the handling of the situation by Biden's camp.
  10. Based on what we have seen this off-season, it's fair to expect Harris to be a little more quicker with the hook than the former GM
  11. It seems like a miracle that, for all the churn and the big Soto trade, Short still stands on the roster. I guess they value having a 4th guy on the 40 man who can play short?
  12. To be fair, strictly last year is a pretty small sample size and he was coming off injury. But outside of 2020, he hasn't been great with the BB, which makes it curious to keep him for sure. My guess is that he's a veteran who AJ/Fetter trust and whose stuff they like, even if he has control issues. I dont really care one way or another whether he was retained, although he seems replaceable from within the org, let alone from the free agent market.
  13. ♫ Churn, baby, churn... Roster inferno... Churn, baby, churn ♫
  14. Soft landing incoming?
  15. Hate to nitpick, but realistically by 2029, I would hope to see at least a couple of draft picks from post-2023 drafts contributing to the team.
  16. It's front office speak, but with the second sentence in particular, it should be a reminder that just because the Tigers aren't getting mentioned in headlines/signings or being brought up in rumors doesn't mean they aren't working on stuff behind the scenes. The Soto deal is a good example of how quickly the narrative can change.
  17. Everybody is overlooking the most important question: Does the shrubbery survive?
  18. Not to mention the new House, who, despite all their dismissals of Trump doing anything wrong for doing far worse, will do their best to make this the scandal of the Century.
  19. First, I don't agree with the "high five" characterization. Second, my post still stands. Creating a feeding frenzy and drawing false equivalencies creates a larger incentive for dishonesty in the future imo. We'll have to agree to disagree here
  20. Shine On You Crazy Diamond....
  21. Tbf, he did leave and is in Florida at the moment.
  22. Definitely... we should incentivize doing the right thing, not ridicule or punish it. Otherwise you just incentivize doing the wrong thing.
  23. You made it incorrect. Again, the warrant on Mar-a-Lago happened not upon NARA initially noticing documents missing, it happened after multiple back and forths and discovering that not all documents to be returned were accounted for. Which is, to my knowledge, where legal liability lies. I'll leave the politics of wins/losses to you, I just don't think "both sides" are remotely the same here based on the facts as they exist. On the contrary, I would argue that we are ****ed because many of us continue to grade Trump on a curve versus other Presidents, past and present. The soft bigotry of low expectations. We expect the bad behavior from Trump, tolerate and, in the process, normalize it. And then draw the kinda false equivalencies that the NYT Pitchbot Twitter account lampoon daily
  24. The final game of the year is almost always a win and in game, which makes the rating being so high sort of notable: it simply exceeded a lot of other previous similar matchups in that slot.
