  1. To the bolded specifically, what I'm struck by is just how boring and uninteresting the whole spectacle is. I would go as far as to say that a not-insignificant portion of those who voted for Trump (particularly the "punish Biden for inflation" crowd) probably find a lot of this stuff boring and uninteresting as well.
  2. "He's killing it"
  3. Another clown who isn't qualified to run an Arby's... Shocking
  4. He had an xFIP of 5.13 in 2024, so not all the peripherals paint a rosy picture.
  5. The Tiger Territory episode is kinda what I'm getting at.... I get that it's the offseason and there isn't a ton to talk about, but they spent damn near half the episode talking about Justin Verlander. When it's not even clear that the front office was ever even considering bringing him in or that JV was interested in coming back.
  6. 100% spot on.... I love JV for what he did in a Tigers uniform, but while I think there's an argument that there are ways that he could improve the 2025 team, the fact that they went in a different direction isn't worthy of all of the attention and energy it has generated in the Tiger zeitgeist.
  7. Western NC and Eastern TN learned this lesson recently...
  8. I'm guessing they are decent too, although I don't have cable and not sure the streaming situation there.
  9. Local news isn't without it's flaws, but it's so much easier to obtain actual information even outside of natural disaster events than it is any other venue these days.
  10. The last couple of natural disaster events we have had (Helene, now this) have really laid bare how difficult it is to obtain news about these events that isn't completely framed in the context of politics. It's easier to get better, more contextualized information about the fires from watching WGN's weather guy (in a city over 2,000 miles away) than it is to get it from the national news, and that is an absolute failure of the media *and* the consumer (who apparently wants this)
  11. One hell of a non-sequitur here by Co-President Musk, all while people are dying.
  12. Also love how certain folks ignore that climate change (and property insurance impacts) are equal opportunity and do not care about partisanship (see: Florida) Is it too much to expect an incoming administration to be able to see incoming crises and maybe have a plan to resolve them? Or have a plan to motivate them at least?
  13. Translation: he has no plan. Thanks for confirming
  14. Does the incoming administration have a plan to address the looming property insurance crisis that being created vy severe climate events? (lol, rhetorical question)
  15. I don't know if there's any truth to that or not, but it's sort of beside the point in that we have assured ourselves yet another four years of inane arguments about what he means and doesn't mean whenever he opens his trap. Just not playing that game.... he should be held accountable for his words just like anyone else would be.
  16. What a strange response.
  17. It's not like anyone can expect a straight answer regardless.
  18. Any comments on him wanting to "quench his imperialistic thirst"? Do you agree with his thoughts?
  19. Any comments on him wanting to "quench his imperialistic thirst"?
  20. One hand, probably... On the other hand, the rhetoric still has costs associated with it
  21. Or whether anyone would have challenged her anyway.... People complain about the lack of a competitive primary, but given when Biden ended up dropping out, structurally, does anybody really think Josh Shapiro, Gretchen Whitmer, etc. had big incentive to throw their hat into the ring versus waiting until 2028? Reportedly the only serious candidate who even remotely considered it after Biden dropped out was JB Pritzker, and the fact that he fell into line within about a day or two was probably a sign of how successful a challenge would have been.
  22. We'll have to wait for Catalist to release their analysis of the 2024 electorate, but while it isn't the sexy answer, backlash against inflation seems to be the biggest driver based on what evidence exists today. Partisan Rs are currently making the same mistake that all winning sides do in these contests in assuming that their win means that American voters love every single position they take on every single issue. And that's just not the case. (Full disclosure, I made this mistake too in 2020 at times too, so I am as guilty as anyone)
  23. For a variety of reasons, I would be very wary about using the 2024 Presidential Election results in making determinations about attitudes on guns.
  24. Even setting aside the implications of his militia comments, the arrogance reminds me of Proverbs 16:18 quite a bit.... Never get high off your own supply...
