I doubt we'd get it because the press seems like they've been defenestrated by this new administration, but I'd like for just one of them to ask about what he's specifically implying (ie. that blacks and women shouldn't be flying planes, helicopters or controlling flight paths). He's had so many shameful moments over the years so it's hard to place, but this is definitely Top 5. The bodies aren't even cold, yet he's out there making it about his pet political buzzwords.

Bill Cassidy and Rand Paul fighting over the efficacy of Hepatitis B vaccines in the RFK Jr. hearing.... Cassidy is a real MD and knows what the right thing to do is here deep down.... but I can't trust any of these guys.

It's like Michael Brown, except the whole ****ing government outside of like Rubio and Burgum are Michael Browns lol

When the President's first inclination after this incident was to take to his personal social media website, not express any empathy and throw the Blackhawk helicopter pilot and traffic controllers in front of the bus before there's been a single second dedicated to investigating what happened.... forgive me if I don't find some folks' complaints about "politicizing" to be serious.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/01/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-ends-dei-madness-and-restores-excellence-and-safety-within-the-federal-aviation-administration/ Look, I have no idea whether these moves had anything to do with this individual incident or not... But one thing is clear: they are treating all of this like a game. When all of us rely on these federal employees to get from A to B

It will get lost amongst all the anti-vax gaslighting (which is arguably the most important thing), but Bobby Kennedy has been nominated to run HHS and is completely ignorant to how Medicare and Medicaid work.... No requirements beyond his last name for this job at all.

The government has been operating for Continuing Resolutions for the past three years and faces a budget deadline in March.... They can't guarantee anything.

Lest some folks think all of this was no big deal... Don't take it from me, but take it from *checks notes* the GOP Gov of Louisiana

This action is generating a lot of actual pushback, has now been slapped down by the courts (at least temporarily), has given Democrats (who prior to today were stuck in neutral at best) a cudgel with which to hit the administration with repeatedly (should they take it), and there's reason to believe because it impacts a lot of federal programs that people take for granted included (basically every program), it's something that will break through to normal people. I don't think they wanted or expected the rollout of their government funding freeze to happen like it did. It's honestly pretty clear cut that it was done haphazardly and incompetently. So we just disagree here.

My Occam's Razor is that the Targets of the world are misreading the moment and misreading *why* Trump won. (ie. Not because of DEI)

Given how some major corporations have acted since Trump won, you would think that "Ending federal efforts to hire women and minorities" would poll a lot lower

Anecdotal, but threats to SNAP funding and threats to Head Start/Education funding have been mentioned on by FB feed so far....

We just don't agree on this... And frankly think the defeatism is a self fulfilling prophecy.

I think we ascribe a lot of genius to these guys.... the reality is that this rollout of this policy being a ****show suggests a lot of incompetence. It doesn't downplay the malevolence to recognize this. Politically, there are ways that they could have done all of their plans that wouldn't have caused this uproar, which would have made said plans a lot easier. But they didn't do that.
