  1. We wouldn't have those rookies if we kept the very expensive players who never won a title here. It took a lot of losing to draft all of our injured pitchers...and Greene...and Kreidler.
  2. Tigers bullpen....living on the edge. Lol
  3. My Xfinity DVRs oldest recording is from 8/4/18. I remember it somehow started giving me hours and hours of HD recordings.
  4. Even Haase has more experience.
  5. It's smart managing to use your backup infielder as your starting left fielder. Stroke of brillance.
  6. Yes, I agree about last year at this time. It was pretty ugly. But the season itself made people hopeful. At last, out of last place. There was even talk about a wildcard spot for this season. And as good as our BP has been, it's not going to last. Too many innings will expose them. And it's barely May and there's enough injuries for the whole season. BTW, I heard Greene may not be back until July? Something about he has to get back into baseball shape?
  7. Yes, there was. With Manning and Mize up as well as Turnbull looking like a quality starter. And with Baddoo performing at a ML level, the future looked bright
  8. No, last year we didn't have 80% of our SP staff injured. There was a glimmer of hope with all the young arms. Now, we're just waiting on word that a couple of those arms may or may not need surgery.
  9. Oh...and BTW? Cincinnati has scored more runs than the Tigers. I think we may have better pitching?
  10. I remember Soto was elevated to closer after being a shut down set up man in the 8th innings. Maybe a pitcher with control issues feels too much pressure to count on as a closer?
  11. It could be much worse. We'll get healthy and be much better. On the other hand, think about the Reds. 3-22 after starting out 2-1. It means they're 1-21 in their last 22 games. And get this...they've given up more RUNS than they have HITS. Horrid....
  12. I can't listen to Monroe. The guy reminds me of Don Cherry. Petry and Morris talk nonsense over the action on the field. Who cares what Wade Boggs said to Jack in 1983 while the Tigers are currently in the middle of a play? Morris makes it all about him. Petry is fine as long as he allows plays to be called as they happen. At least Rod and Mario called the action as it happened. They were fine for TV, IMO. All these other guys sound like they're just filling in for a few days. Totally unprofessional.
  13. I never saw it. But when you say "chase scene on the field", I think of Rod Allen in Japan. 🤣🤣🤣
  14. And I think Altuve may be hurt. Pulled groin or something? Better rest him...😆😆
  15. JV is going to pitch into his 40's. Effectively. He really is a throwback. I know we had to shed payroll but he's the ace of the Houston staff and he would be Detroits ace too.
  16. Well, at least we'll miss Verlander in Houston. He pitched, and won again, today.
  17. Yeah, cause the rain stopped. Why win today when you can lose twice tomorrow?
  18. I quit reading about side effects to meds. After the 2nd shingles vaccine, it seems I now get every reaction they warn about. I thought it was in my head but no, I have problems with many meds now. Getting my first covid booster and the flu vaccine at the same time was a mistake. Yes, better than getting covid or a bad flu case but I have no idea which vaccine caused such a horrible reaction that lasted 3 days. And no, it didn't stop me from getting a 2nd covid booster. I'll get another if it's recommended.
  19. Shingrix vaccine? The 2nd shot of that kicked my ass. First time I ever had a reaction to any medicine/vaccine. I'm told it's better than getting actual shingles though....
  20. And the flu vaccine is usually around 40% effective. That's one of the things I found amazing about the coronavirus vaccine...effectiveness in the 90% range. Amazing....sign me up!!
  21. Hitting is down all across the league. Backup at SS, backup up in the OF, I don't care. It's all the injuries to our SP that could ruin this season. While our BP has saved us so far, putting too much pressure on them may expose them.
  22. Robinson Cano was a DFA victim today. It seems this pathetic hitting is league-wide.
  23. They need a good defensive backup SS because Baez will miss or rest 20 games a season or more. Kreidler wouldn't get enough at-bats. I would rather have Short up here, short term. But it won't matter if we keep losing SP at this rate. WTF is going on? We have an entire pitching staff injured? Just bad luck, bad conditioning or normal injuries?
  24. Yeah, true. I think I heard Sparky say this. Maybe he just meant the team he had that season?
