Perhaps, but we don’t have a glut of blocked prospects and an entire major league roster full of prospects. With Meadows injury history, we have a clear need for a CF—so there’s an obvious need to hang onto Max. We also don’t have gaping holes on the ML team that need to be addressed before the playoffs like the Orioles did with their pitching. If we were to trade Rainer, Lee, and Briceno or Liranzo for an All-Star 3B with 3 years of team control on a relatively inexpensive contract, I don’t think there’d be a ton of complaints. Clark and McGonigle have clear uses within the future of the club considering current contracts and injury histories to guys ahead of them.
