  1. Is it Frank Howard? I only know that he played there from going to OSU at the same time as Nick Swisher and Howard and Dave Burba being the only two names I had ever heard of on their list of pros at the stadium. I was hoping the Tigers were going to draft Swisher back then. Burba, Howard, Swisher and now Dingler are the only 4 OSU players I can name that made it to the majors so if the answer is someone else than I’m curious how they’re famous.
  2. Jansen is a better than Kelly. Maybe not necessarily numbers wise this year but career wise. Anyone hoping to get anything more than what we got was probably aiming too high. Dingler has the ability to be better than both Kelly and Rogers.
  3. They’ve continuously been highly competitive and have won their division multiple times in the last 15 years despite three of the other four teams always running huge payrolls. We haven’t been very competitive in our division the last 10 years despite none of the other teams ever spending much.
  4. I’d have been shocked if he didn’t get used in this game. We aren’t exactly in a spot where we can give guys mini-vacations…
  5. What exactly is the plan with Maeda? Despite two weeks worth of multiple bullpen days in the rotation, he’s only pitched twice since July 9th. If he’s so bad that we aren’t even gonna use him in the bullpen games at all, then just release him or phantom injury him.
  6. Trade him now!!!!!
  7. Or ask them what the list of prospects they are willing to include in a deal for our player and then ask for someone outside of that list
  8. DD probably would’ve traded Mize and Torkelson for future HOFers before they even got to the majors.
  9. Wentz should have to deliver the pizzas from the pizza spear to the opposing dugout after every outing
  10. Is this real life?
  11. Should’ve started him. 1.000 WHIP
  12. What are we gonna do after they collectively can’t get out of the 5th?
  13. Never trade with the Rays. Those two Low-A prospects are guaranteed future plus big leaguers. If fanduel had a betting line out for that, I’d put my 401k on it
  14. Glad I’m not a White Sox fan because I would be piiiisssed at Crochet right now. Not that their brass would’ve made a good trade for him anyway, but still. He just complicated his trade market and raised red flags about himself while in the same division as the other big name starters that everyone is looking at.
  15. On the surface that seems like a pretty good return for Puk. Haven’t looked at either of the defensive profiles though but they both have had success offensively in the minors
  16. The White Sox are now on pace to have a worse record than the 2003 Tigers. Amazing because that 03 team had nothing close to Crochet and Fedde in their rotation.
  17. Baez with 1.0 WAR today…..
  18. Which was apparently spent on repeatedly putting hits out on Franklin Perez’s elbow
  19. He is having lower leg issues. Hence why he is DHing the last couple games and sat out the other day.
  20. There’s risk for the Orioles too obviously, but they have the position player depth to absorb the hit if Skubal gets hurt or regresses heavily. If we dealt Skubal and don’t get multiple high value major leaguers in return, it stutters our rebuild—which has already stuttered multiple times since Mike Illitch passed away. Skubal isn’t even expensive, so if he does get hurt it’s not like you’re tied to a monster contract that would prevent you from signing starters in the future.
  21. Sarcasm aside, I guarantee we outperform Al Avila
  22. I’d be good with that if it didn’t mean more extended relief outings from Faedo/Wentz/Maeda…. Holton is a weirdly important cog in the bullpen
  23. I don’t think we are getting a superstar caliber return for half a season of Jack Flaherty though. An above average major league level position prospect is probably the ceiling here unless we add more going out with him. Flaherty is a great get for a contender, but everyone knows the contract situation and our position as a team needing to move him to bolster our future. We have leverage here, but nothing close to the leverage for trading Skubal.
  24. Well with JV we knew our competitive window was closing and a rebuild would be imminent. JV also had some injury issues and had a year or two of declined performance (by his standards). Even at the time I was underwhelmed with the return. None of it was major league ready. With Skubal, this is a guy who is young, cost controlled for years, still improving, and we are (hopefully) at the beginning part of a competitive window. So the value of Skubal to us and the stakes of not getting a gigantic return for him are especially high.
