  1. Despite what his final line will be, that was an A outing from Sammons for us. keep him and send Brieske/Faedo down or DFA Wentz when Mize or Olson are back
  2. Guardians acquiring Lane Thomas for prospects
  3. It’s amazing how we have three pitchers who can barely ever be relied on to get through a single inning. Hope Harris can overhaul this bullpen in the offseason.
  4. Only if they can also get us the rights to Gene Kingsale Jr, Jose Macias Jr, and Wendell Magee Jr…..
  5. Not sure what we’d get from the Yankees for Flaherty. Not interested in Spencer Jones. A lot of their top prospects are either outfielders or pitchers. Wouldn’t mind seeing Ben Rice as a C/1B included in the deal which could give us a promising bat in the event Tork/Dingler struggle.
  6. Bryan Sammons up for Easton Lucas. There’s your starter
  7. He did well as the opener vs Cleveland twice, but the top of their lineup is lefty heavy….so yeah to your point. More of a matchup guy than a bulk innings guy generally speaking . i wouldn’t want him in a rotation long term, but i trust him a lot more than Faedo/Wentz/Brieske to be a fill in.
  8. Could also just mean Urshela is dealt…
  9. Edman dealt to the Dodgers. A dark day for MTS forums. Can you hook us up with some Ohtani merch?
  10. Looks like Fedde may go to St Louis. Good news to have another pitching domino fall and to a team that didn’t seem to be in on our guys.
  11. Chafin for Paredes. We get our third baseman back, they get their modern era guy who looks like Rod Beck. Win-Win.
  12. I read somewhere (that I can’t find now) that there were teams interested in Foley. I think Foley would be a big bonus for a team with a HR friendly park.
  13. Padres system looks weak. Very pitching heavy and None of the pitchers seem to be putting up good results. Even their top position prospects are having poor years statistically. I’d rather have the comp pick than any of what they’d try and offer.
  14. I agree. Set the price and don’t budge. If we keep him then we keep him and will be happy to do so. Honestly, same goes for Flaherty. Don’t Avila up the situation. I say get whatever you can get for Canha and Urshela though.
  15. I’d do that deal if we quickly followed it up with another deal where we dealt out of those log jams (example: trading Jung/Meadows/Lee) and added some legitimate MLB caliber pitching. Highly doubt that would be the strategy though. That being said, If Skubal is dealt it needs to be for exactly what we want and need in return- not something that we have to make a bunch of other moves to maximize.
  16. If we can fix his BB issues, he otherwise has good peripherals. Not expecting much than minor league depth though.
  17. Wasn’t Vanasco the guy we absolutely torched in that big 5 run comeback inning against the Dodgers?
  18. I hate to say it but I’m starting to think we are going to end up being disappointed with the deadline moves. Not that they will singularly be bad, but that Skubal will stay and the returns we get on anyone else that’s dealt won’t be franchise altering. Or at least not anyone ready to make an immediate impact until mid-next year at the earliest. Then we will still go into next year with 1-2 questionable spots in the rotation, plus Baez still the every day SS, Tork being given another shot at everyday 1B, some sort of Jace Jung platoon at 3B, and too many LH outfielders.
  19. Aww cmon, give Maeda his props too
  20. It’s not ideal at all, but there isn’t much left as far as options without an acquisition. Might as well actually plan for two of them to be starters so you can try to get some semblance of a workload balance for the rest of the pen. Maybe use Holton instead of Faedo because he’s actually effective.
  21. At this point you’d think they’d be trying to stretch out Faedo or Brieske. and to be fair, Maeda looked quite a bit better yesterday so if we “throw in the towel” and trade Flaherty, just slot Maeda back in at least until we get Mize and/or Olson back.
  22. I definitely expect Dingler to struggle a bit with the adjustment….we just need to commit to giving him the reps.
  23. Curious if Dingler will transition quickly to the bigs or not. Seems to take him at least a half season to get going offensively at each level jump. Hinch needs to play him 2/3 of the time over Rogers the rest of the year.
  24. Fair, although outside of a bit of a hot streak for a few weeks this year, I haven’t been impressed with Kelly. i trust Harris and Co on evaluating arms, so if they went after this AA reliever, I feel like they must think he can be elevated to something worthwhile. The catcher we got just helps with Depth. If the reliever can be serviceable by next year, that hopefully helps us move on from a few of the duds we have in the pen right now.
