  1. More that we have a bit of depth at outfield (if healthy) and if adding a part of that depth to increase the return in a Flaherty trade can help us with depth at other positions of need, then it should be considered. I will say that I like his profile as a guy who can hit for average and get on base, so I don’t WANT him traded- but when you look at other guys in our system that could have positive trade value, most of them either won’t be moved or are at a low point in value currently. Less about wanting to move Perez and more about getting even more likely of a max return in a situation like a Flaherty trade. I would be happy if we could arrange to keep Flaherty, but I don’t think that’ll be the strategy here.
  2. Have we ever had that art? We let Nelson Cruz terrorize us for a decade
  3. I just mean heading into next season. There’s not much we can do about it now unless some waiver wire possibilities come up around and after the deadline
  4. I’m of the opinion that we should try to sell high on him in a deadline package.
  5. Everyone is so focused on prospect upgrades from possible deadline deals that we are ignoring the biggest way we can improve the team: replace Faedo and Wentz (and Maeda) with capable relief pitchers.
  6. That’s not enough for Skubal by himself let alone throwing Foley into the deal. Foley in a bandbox stadium would be very high value for a team. That’s not just a pot-sweetener we are talking about.
  7. Hypothetically if he hasn’t recovered by the start of 2025, is he able to be transferred back to the 15 day DL? Or is there a requirement based on injury timeframe for him to have to go to the 60 day retroactively to the previous year? Curious if that service time issue wouldn’t possibly arise later on. Wouldn’t shock me if we just end up waving him in that scenario. That being said, I doubt paying him arbitration or losing the service time on him would be seen as a huge negative either way. He’s only making 760k this year and you could probably easily win an arb hearing if it comes to it.
  8. Gotcha. I’m sure they could move him to the 60 Day in the future if they have a spot on it free and need the 40 man spot for any deadline moves then. Seems like our roster move options are starting to really narrow down without starting to DFA/release people.
  9. Does going on the full season list free up a temporary 40 man roster spot to use like going on the 60 day DL?
  10. There’s no way he hasn’t transitioned to Zyn pouches
  11. You’d think Lange would end up there at some point too
  12. If Trout could stay healthy he could get there in 5 years or so
  13. Fair enough. That’s my assessment as well. My take on Vierling is that until he establishes better on base skills and starts using his high end speed more, he’s a platoon player at best and shouldn’t be looked at as part of the future core.
  14. Wasn’t his first start also Fausto Carmonas first start?
  15. What prospects do we have that we would be willing to package for an established hitter? I definitely agree that we should look at it as a possibility, just wondering how you think Harris could approach doing that. It just feels like the org would have definite future plans for almost all of the higher level prospects that we have. The one “logjam” could be Keith/Jung/Tork/Lee on the right side of the infield. Even with our glut of LH outfielders, they all profile differently between speed/power/defense/plate discipline. We have a good 8-10 high value guys but I see a potential clear path to the major leagues for most of them assuming development continues as it has been.
  16. Are you comfortable with Vierling or Jung as the 3B of the near future? It seems that outside of Rainer, all of our legitimate internal infield prospects, as well as Keith, seem to project more to the right side of the infield. I’ve heard varying reviews of Jung at 3B.
  17. Yup. I remember reading that he had Miguel Cabrera comps.
  18. Not sure I would even take him for Flaherty
  19. Clark and McGonigle catching and probably soon passing Campos in level is a big disappointment. I was hoping he’d turn out to be a stud back when we signed him.
  20. Yes, but that was after your suggestion saying we bring up multiple minor league pitchers to fill in the Olson/Mize/Maeda gap instead of looking to acquire an SP. What minor leaguers are going to be added to the 40 man roster for that to happen? And what actual talent is getting dumped for that to happen?
  21. It would be if we brought him up in July. Particularly considering he’s had injuries each of the last two years and hasn’t pitched that many innings in a season yet. Adding him the the 40 man and calling him for a couple outings in September is different than calling him up now and leaning on him to cover for Mize/Olson for an unknown amount of starts and innings. For reference, he has thrown 32 2/3 innings above A ball at this point.
  22. I just hope he goes aggro on Jason Grilli in his speech for nostalgia.
  23. I was being a bit tongue-in-cheek with saying we need SP just because of our current injury status. That being said, our only pitchers on the 40 man that aren’t in Detroit already or hurt are Englert, White and Wilmer Flores. We’d have to move Lange to the 60-day DL or DFA someone to clear up a spot for any of our other pitchers. Not to mention if we do make a Flaherty trade and he brings back more than one good prospect we’d need a 40 man spot for that as well. As much as I’d like to see Jobe, there’s zero reason to force him up the ladder. i feel like Madris and Lucas are gonna be DFAd around the deadline either way.
