  1. I reckon Parker will have his name up there soon. When Clark gets here we could see Max, Riley and Parker roaming the OF
  2. I can see Harris going after 1 or 2 of Bieber, Buehler and Boyd.
  3. Short leash for sure. He had a terrible year.. Harris can find a CJ Cron type from the heap, until some of the 19 year old youngsters are ready. Maybe between Lee, Keith and Jung 1b and 2b could be covered. I think we might see Lee called up next season
  4. I think his grooves will expand. Certainly 15-25 home runs, .280, .800 ops not out of the question. He looks like a player to me. I think he makes an all-star team even before his initial contract is up. Can barrel it up to all fields. Seems like a gym rat type that will work to improve
  5. Really sad about Fernando. He burst onto the MLB scene as magical as Mark Fidrych. RIP
  6. Little bit if a stretch on the comparison. Det is a young team that just made the playoffs. Still a top 10 farm. Very low payroll. I know it's a longshot, but Harris should at least kick the tires. Also send a message to agents that Det is looking. Highly unlikely, nit zero. Theron marrying one of us, zero
  7. Alonso is 29 and a fraction of the player Soto is. Alonso does not expect 12 year contract. I think he will get 6 or 7, and I don't have confidence he will age well. Soto is only 25. He will get much, much more
  8. Saw a stat of the top WAR producers since 2020. Ohtani, Judge, Soto, Betts, Lindor, Ramirez and Freeman. Don't think I missed anyone. Doubt Det has anyone in the top 100. In another 4 years will Det have anyone in the top 10?
  9. Crazy - Stanton has 8 post season hits vs Cleveland. All 8 hits are home runs. One of the craziest stats I have ever heard
  10. I hate the Yankees.
  11. Throw some serious money Soto's way. At least try.
  12. I hope Harris at least kicks the tires on Soto. I know that's a pipe dream. He's still only 25 years old! Talk about command of the strike zone. So talented
  13. Be interesting to see if Harris kicks the tires with Matt Boyd.
  14. Read 2 articles this week speculating Det might consider trading Tork. Pittsburgh listed as possible destination. Doubt he has much of any value now, so it makes more sense to see how he does in spring training. Would guess he'll be back in Toledo if he struggles. People here floated Christian Walker. If he'd come for 2/30-40 that would make sense. Someone will offer him 3/50-60 though. Might only have Skubal 2 more years. Time to push some chips in is now imho.
  15. Shane Farrell is John Farrell's son. John's last pitching stint in MLB was for the Tigers in 1996. So there's that connection, and Shane worked for the Cubs when Harris was there
  16. He's staying in Houston, but each day I'm more on board with making a run at Bregman. Maybe the AJ connection will add some incentive. But I don't see him leaving the Astros minus a huge overpay by another team.
  17. Watched that game - what a great post season! Incredible baseball
  18. I just did a quick check on catchers and their initial big league experience. I checked Bench, Piazza, IRod, Rogers, Freehan, Parish and Avila. Only one hit out of the gate, that was Alex Avila. Bench's first year he was 14 for 86, ops+ of 26. Freehan had an ops of .718 and did well. His sample is 300 ab though, not sure how he started. Jake Rogers? Ouch!! 14 for 112. Not that Jake is an average hitter now. Even IRod's ops+ his first season was 75 in 280 at bats. I do think most catchers struggle at the plate to start. Not saying Dingler will ever hit. But 84 at bats while catching 5-7 pitchers a game in a race for the playoffs is a tough entrance into becoming a MLB batter imho
  19. AJ and others spoke often to the fact that finding one's way as a catcher at the major league level involves much more initial focus on catching than it does on hitting. I think Dingler will likely be fine, give him time. They already have Rogers, who seems to be a solid part of what Harris et all are building.
  20. Saw today that with the 5 spot from Skubal his post season era ended at 2.37. Regular season 2.39. Playing against the best teams, he was going to give up runs at some point. I'm just now starting to get over the loss. Just don't want the Yankees or Dodgers to win
  21. I started to watch and stopped. I tore my acl and meniscus on the same play in 1983. I still cannot watch a leg injury replay
  22. When was the last time a team made the ALCS without a player with at least 25 home runs? And only one player with 20+? 3 players with 15+? Some of this great run was indeed magical. Out of 15 AL teams Det was 10th in BA, 9th in HR, 14th in OBP and somehow got to 9th in Runs. Much of this run was the bullpen and Skubal, which should remain a strength for a few years. Please sign Skubal. And bring in a couple bats. Without that it will be difficult to replicate '24 or improve. That said, I am very excited for this team. What a fun 2 months!! Meadows could be emerging as a star. If Carp and Greene stay healthy for a full year those team stats will improve. I think Tork will be on a shorter leash. You can't have negative production from 1B. I actually have an odd hunch he will have a nice year next year. Enjoying a stogie right now. Thankful for the system that Harris seems to be building. Positive years are upon us
  23. Did Foley pitch at all this series?
  24. Or NYY vs LAD
  25. Like the announcers said, both bullpen are likely getting a bit taxed. If they lose Carp that's huge. Can't wait for Saturday
