That turned into a fun game to watch. Very happy to see Riley come through and then do a good job on the bases. -
We're going to need that $$ and more for the Trout deal.
-
No idea of what he'd bring but I firmly believe that Greene is the chip in the next major deal the Tigers make. Tork & Carpenter probably don't have tons of value but you could make a pretty good power package for some team. If forced to guess I'd say Harris would target young starting pitching - probably just decent prospects,

Well that's no fun at all. -
You need that to move the missus and a couple of sides.

For as irritating Javy can be at the plate - he does create some magic moments. -

I read somewhere that it was structured to not affect the ppi.

Growing up in the Midthumb area Polish jokes were huge. And the most prevelant tellers? Poles. Ubly area, northern Sanilac, southern Huron county was loaded with Poles and they loved Polish jokes. -

That phrase was somewhat common where I grew up in rural Michigan only different in the sense it was "Fight, fight, a n*****, a black and a white".....not sure why but that's I recall hearing it. Then again it's been a long time since someone would shout that. -

What's acceptable and what's not has changed so much in my lifetime and has nearly come full circle. N***** has always been a slur. On the other hand Negro replaced Colored which was the common term for my Grandfather's generation. He used colored and not in a derogatory sense. Then Black replaced Negro. And African American seemed to pretty much replace Black. Then it seemed like some mved back to Black. And of People of Color came into use which nearly brings us back to Colored. Of all of those I don't think any outside of N***** was/is meant to be a slur. -

After tonight: Keith .831, Dingler .864, McGonigle .908 Vierling 548. Torres 595. Tork 637. Greene 683. -
The fence jump in spring training still gives me nightmares.
-
I was going to mention this. Even if Clark never gets a hit in the majors we owe getting McGonigle to Max taking less $$.
-
I'd forgotten about this, it was so great mostly because it was so unexpected. Another game that I didn't see but is memorable for me was this one: "On June 21, 1970, Detroit Tigers shortstop César Gutiérrez became the first MLB player in the 20th century to go 7-for-7 in a single game. He achieved this feat in the second game of a doubleheader against the Cleveland Indians, collecting six singles and a double in a 9–8, 12-inning victory. " "Context: He became only the second player in Major League history at the time to record seven hits in seven at-bats without making an out, matching Wilbert Robinson (1892)." "Aftermath: Despite this historic game, Gutierrez was a light hitter, finishing his career with a .235 average and only 128 total hits. " I remember coming home and my Dad telling me a Tiger went 7 for 7 - which Tiger? Never did get the right answer after guessing most of the team.
-
Verlander's 1st start was pretty highly anticipated. He'd been the subject of much more hype than even McGonigle. The start itself was a bit of a disappointment but you could see the talent.
-
Until July when we pick him up for the stretch run.
-
SSS and all.... sarge@sarge____2h Through 16 games, Kevin McGonigle leads the Tigers in: fWAR (0.9) On-Base % (.412) Slugging % (.508) wRC+ (167) He also has the lowest K% on the team (11.8%).

1st nomination for me would be the Tanana 1987 game I put in the other thread. The closure of Gibby's beartrap on our big rival from that era. Game 7 of 1968 would seem to have to be there. Clinching game in 2006?
-
I don't have an actual list I just know that one would be on it. I have fond memories from nearly every era. The 1967 heartbreaker solidified me as a fan for life. 1968 was special for an 8 year old kid, I loved every one of those guys and still do. 1972 the last hurrah of the 68 boys. 1981 oh so close with the kids 1984 the magical season 1987 the beartrap....then heartbreak. 2006 the drought is broken 2011-2014 trying to get Mr. I his WS win 2024 shocking the world Lots of history there to pick from, would be fun to point out personal favorites and see if there's a consensus?

This is one of the top 10 games in my Tiger history. Watched it at deer camp with 10-12 friends. What a nail biter and what performance by Frank. Trivia - my Dad played against Frank Tanana Sr in MHSAA basketball tournament.
