We do seem to be stuck on running it back with the same group of failed/disappointing/runofthemill prospects for the last few years - Garcia, Jones, Jung, Tork, etc - shaking things up a bit wouldn't hurt.

I think Ranier is more often touted for that. But everything I've read about Peck over the last couple years has said great glove but can the bat hold up. 7 HRs is a least a good start at proving it can.

It's the one new change I actively dislike. Like the pitch clock, like the reliever rule, like the appeals, don't mind the shift ban, like the throwing to 1st rule, but really don't like the free runner. I loved the tension building as extra innings built.

I'm probably with you on that. We didn't have nearly the information or the cynicism we have now. Can you imagine the webz today if a team likw 1968 was running out a ss/3B combo batting .135 & .200? With OPS of .399 & .556? Yet somehow that team won 103 games. I thought then with all the youngsters coming up Les Cain, Tommy Matchick, Wayne Comer, Jon Warden that it would go on for years.....but alas. Others were talking about their 1st game, I knew mine was in '67 and a DH vs the Indians. This seems to have been it since it was around my birthday and on a Sunday when my Dad could have taken me. And all through my younger years he liked getting value for his dollar and going to doubleheaders.

I say if Workman keeps hitting cut bait on Torkelson sooner rather than later. This team has dillydallyed with Tork, the injury prone Meadows, Wenceel, Jahmai, Jung, and on and on.

I'd be more embarassed by only clearing the mat by a foot vs a stiff swing. 😉
