I'm sure a lot of you guys knew Michigan was a big-ish player in the maple syrup game, but I did not.

Given how much I hate pumpkin pie, I would LOVE to have a pecan pie instead. We do have apple pie as an option.
  4. It's December 6. We haven't even gotten to the winter meetings yet. Please relax.
  5. I don't see how that makes any contextual sense, but OK.
  6. “Finally”? Meaning you’ve changed your mind about whether Skubal’s getting traded this winter? That must be it, because I’ve been saying that he won’t be traded literally since the season ended. 😃
  7. You’ll forgive me if I don’t take a hyperbolic post from somebody who calls themself “scary lawyerguy” at its word.
  8. Tariffs are supposed to decimate small businesses. That’s the point of the whole thing. Large businesses can absorb tariffs to some degree and for some time. Small businesses can’t. So when large tariffs get implemented, large businesses can bide their time and wait out small businesses who struggle to keep going under the new tariff economy until they to get to that critical decision point: will they declare bankruptcy and go out of business, or will they sell off to a large company? It all depends whether they have any desirable business assets they can package into a sale, assets large companies determine are better to pay for and obtain now versus investing resources into developing some equivalent later. Either way, their small business ends and that clears the landscape for large businesses and their oligarch owners, the people who give the most money to Trump and his crime family, and thus the economy is managed with the intent of benefitting only them, and relegating the rest of us to becoming mere labor widgets. That’s the goal, anyway. Not for nothing, this is also the whole idea behind killing off Obamacare, never mind even considering implementing a single-payer Medicare-style healthcare system. If the only place to get an even halfway-decent medical discount plan (which, if you think about it, is what health insurance has evolved to) is through a large employer, that keeps people showing to those jobs toiling their lives away for The Man, instead of striking out on their own and opening their own business that might compete with The Man. IOW, if we had single payer, a person could start their own business and not have to worry about the healthcare part of it. Make them worry about their healthcare, though, and it keeps them from going out on their own and keeps them on someone’s payroll, until that person is separated from their job at the employer’s behest and not at their own—which is as Gilded Age God intended. Trump’s entire economic policy is explicitly designed to concentrate the entirety of the economy into the hands of an established billionaire class that they are actively working to close off to new members as much as they possibly can.
  9. I might be inclined to say you’re wasting your time, but it’s your time, so, carry on. 😉
  10. I just don’t see how a contending team will empty out the top of their farm system, and add a plus already-big-league player, for one year of a Tarik Skubal who is going to just leave them next year anyway. Skubal’s not going anywhere this winter.
  11. If Scott Harris makes the team worse next year on purpose, then he should be fired.
  12. One nifty thing I have been using AI for is for summarizing terms and conditions, as well as privacy policies, of companies I have a online subscription to. Or, more exactly, I might ask Gemini a specific question pertaining to specific areas of the T&Cs, such as, what are the company's rights or abilities to review and seize content I use through their products or services—for example, can Apple claim any ownership and usage rights or otherwise examine the assets I upload to its iCloud service? Can they help themselves to photos I upload to their service and use them in their marketing materials, for instance? (Topline answer: they can't use content you upload for marketing purposes, although under their Standard Data Protection plan, they can broadly scan to detect and report uploading of illegal or harmful materials, but not examine any financial records you might upload to it; under their Advanced Data Protection, they can't even scan your drive for illegal/harmful materials; but in all cases, if the government demands access to your uploaded content, they will fork it over. Makes sense.) You can even use AI to compare updated T&Cs with previous T&Cs to highlights what the relevant changes were. Beats having to read and compare the entire documents. I would like to know the other cool, helpful, productive, and/or time-saving things other board members use AI for.
  13. Holy f***, does Bowden work for the Dodgers now? No way. If you have to pray that the 32-year-old top guy in the return is healthy in exchange for your two-time-defending Cy-Young-winning generational superstar pitcher, that's a bad trade.
  14. I don't think you can make the case for Riley Greene as a superstar. He has barely been a 2-win player for three of his four seasons, and that includes this past season during which he played 157 games. I'm not even sure we can conclusively regard him as a star, since you don't dread it when a star is coming to the plate for fear he will strike out yet again. The only superstar we have on this team is Tarik Skubal, full stop. And unless Scott Harris is secretly planning on walking out of the Tigers' front office double-flipping it off as he leaves for a last time sometime before Opening Day, Skubal ain't getting traded.
  15. I'm 5'10". You don't scare me. I run fast! 😃
  16. To your implication, he can't pardon her until the Epstein threat is way into the rear-view mirror, probably at the end of his regime, is there ever is an end.
  17. Well, of course it can't express how sorry it is! By definition, it can't express sorrow!
  18. The cheering for the end of democracy is what made this post for me.
  19. The source did suck.
  20. The eventual best part isn't that they are withdrawing vaccination recommendations and leaving it up to personal choice, pr parent's prerogative. The best part will be when they outlaw vaccinations in the United States entirely, and criminalize people who obtain vaccinations in other countries.
  21. I don't know, pardoning Ghislaine could be a bad look for Trump. I know we all assume he's bulletproof, but as we have seen, not even Hitler was that.
