  1. As an Xmas gift, my wife arranged for a bunch of my family, some of her family, and my best buddy who lives in Boston to all get together for tomorrow night’s game, with my buddy, my wife, and I down on the field for Tigers’ batting practice. Seventeen family and friends will attend. She chose tomorrow’s game because it’s the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, and it’s the Guardians. Very, very thoughtful of her. She’s really good at getting me experience gifts. She’s just the best all around. As for the weather … meh. It can go either way this time of year. If we’re gonna live here, we’re gonna have to accept that. It could just as well have been 90. Ah well, that’s OK. We’re still gonna have a swell time. Can’t wait!
  2. Lemonade out of lemons: bad as it was, it’s still only one loss.
  3. OK, let’s score eight and go get beers.
  4. K. We’re 12th highest out of 30 teams in K%. We’re at 22.7%; league average is 21.9%. Last year we were eighth highest. We’re making good progress. We also just faced a fire breathing Cy-Young-vote-getting reliever who strikes out 31% of the hitters he faces and average 13 K/9. I think it’s more bad timing and bad luck than systemic failure.
  5. OK, now we’re done.
  6. Welp, McStinky …
  7. And down we go. We need a Cade Smith in our pen.
  8. Smith mows down McKinstry, too. Come on, Riley, time to be an All Star now …
  9. Baddoo, totally overmatched like a AAAA lifer would be against Cade ****ing Smith.
  10. Wow, 99% pop up drops for a single. Could hardly happen at a better time.
  11. Maybe getting Bibee out of the game was all we needed to get rolling? All of a sudden, tying run is at the plate with two on and no out in the eighth.
  12. If even a blue state ever tries to fund a madrasa with state funds, there will be vandalism and politicians thrown out of office.
  13. The Bold Predictions thread was March! 😉
  14. Ya got announcer problems, I feel bad for you, son, I got 99 problems, and Benetti ain’t one
  15. I don’t think Flaherty and Sweeney are going out for beers after the game.
  16. We probably won’t get a shutdown reliever rental for anyone outside the top 15. I actually think we may not make any moves.
  17. Exactly this. This is not a person who is a rational Democrat, or a rational liberal, or a rational anybody representative of anything. This is a guy who's probably mentally ill who has latched onto this issue as a conduit for acting out. He could have done the same thing because he hated a certain movie. Who knows. But his moving forward some sort of peace process was nowhere on his mind, so it would unfair to hold the Palestinian people at large, or even leadership tasked with representing Palestinian interests, responsible for his action.
  18. Any idea what is the best record the Tigers started out with when they did not make the playoffs, during the playoff era? Would that be 1993?
  19. Well, this graphic sure looks familiar! 😁
  20. I would frankly be very surprised if Lange came back and pitched effectively in the majors again, and doubly surprised if he did so without walking the world.
  21. Yeah, they're my local neighborhood team and they're not in the Tigers' way, so I'm good with that.
  22. We should trade a viable prospect for a good reliever if we have no one else in the system who can step up should pumpkins arise.
  23. It's always good to beat a good National League team two of three in their park—especially one that is arguing our biggest rival over there.
  24. I don't worry about it, but sure, I care. Why not? Games in May count just as much as games in September do. It's better to pick up a game on your opponents when you win in May then to tread water against your opponents when you win in May. It's a marginal benefit worth rooting for. YMMV.
  25. I'm powering through Jason Benetti. At least this never happened when Shep ... may I call him Shep? ... was calling games on TV.
