  1. Because McKinstry can play infield and Carpenter can't.
  2. Dingler didn't have to wait for the strike call by the ump before flinging it to first base.
  3. Fun facts about Shelby Miller: since August 9, almost six weeks ago, Shelby Miller had come into 13 games, pitching 14 innings, and shutting out the other team eleven times. His K/9 is 10.29 and his BB/9 is 1.29. His ERA was 1.29, and he just pitched for four more outs without giving up a run, so, 1.17 ERA now since then? I'm sure there's a team in the Yukon who could use that. 😉
  4. So, if you're a Twins fan here, who are you rooting for? You'd like to hold the Tigers off, but you wanna overtake the Royals. So I think they're rooting for the Tigers here.
  5. Yes, thank god!
  6. Still finding ways to hurt the Tigers. 😝
  7. I don’t know, the way the Orioles have been scuffling lately, they wouldn’t be a bad playoff draw. Too bad for them they don’t have a shutdown ace. 😁
  8. Wasn’t it great to be 20 and feeling no pain?
  9. Not at all. Unlike Taylor Swift, she's not tall and blonde and Aryan-looking, so he wouldn't want to **** her.
  10. Nazi Germany had admirers among American religious leaders – and white supremacy fueled their support
  11. Download the poster and check it out.
  12. It is so, so great to see my team enjoying playing for my team.
  13. Thanks for weighing in, Lynn. ****ing buzzkill.
  14. Captain Actually confirms that they call it a pitch timer, not a pitch clock, the difference being that timers count down, and clocks count forward.
  15. The ironic part is that when baseball hit the scene in the 1870s, it was seen as a fast, rough-and-tumble game full of running and energy, like nothing American or other industrialized countries had seen at the time. Games routinely took a little more than an hour, and even while Ruth roamed the landscape, many if not most games came in under two hours.
  16. Pitchers are already delivering pitches with 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 seconds still on the clock, so i don’t think there’s much on-field evidence in support that pitchers need more time.
  17. Trump can never go to prison because there are potentially thousands of people, or more, who will violently act out if he does, and that’s one of the reasons Justice slow-walked going after him in the first place.
  18. One man’s fascist is an orange man’s patriot.
  19. Counterpoint: Losing will send Trump directly into the justice system for the rest of his life, with results that are uncertain as of today.
  20. There will definitely be red hat protesters and subsequent violent incidents at some of these events, which will provide Trump ample opportunity to engage in DARVO.
  21. There is a link to an article within this article which lists out 54 incidents of criminal cases in which violent acts or threats were linked, by the perpetrators themselves, to Trump’s statements. And this is only through 2020! I find it incredible that no one on the Democrats’ side is highlighting this exact thing.
  22. I've been noodling possible reasons why McCosky is so besotted with all these substandard players from another Tigers era, guys who were nobodies going nowhere in a hurry, but were treated like somebodies who were the present and future of a badly-broken organization. Psychobabble Me is landing on McCosky misses Al Avila, the way Avila used to go stream-of-consciousness and say all the quiet parts out loud. McCosky misses that because it made his job writing about the Tigers a lot easier, and the Harris administration's tight lips make his job harder. And if there's one thing McCosky needs, it's something anything that will make his job easier, because he's not exactly a diligent journalist.
  23. I love Dan Dickerson and I think he’s in the conversation for best radio PxP of the 21st Century, but between this, throwing to commercial with two outs, and hearing him make relatively egregious errors like calling plays before they actually finish (e.g., wall-scraper home runs, fence catches, safe/out at base), I fear he has been getting either sloppy or he’s, god forbid, starting to age more quickly. This is not a hot take—I started really noticing the signs last season. I hope I’m all wet on that.
  24. That you can watch Major League Baseball games where you get bombarded with gambling ads and not become a gambler is the modern day equivalent of Greek Asceticism.
