  1. Shouldn't be hard to get cheap tickets.
  2. Good thing Aaron Judge doesn't play for the Tigers. We already have plenty of hitters who can strike out four times in a game. 😏
  3. This. Right here. Doesn't mean one-hundred-point-zero percent of all participants are being merely performative—in a large cohort there are always a few true believers who would go the whole mile, and also a few who are planted by nefarious organizations. By and large, though, practically all these kids will have moved on to something else to occupy their lives, and I would bet a large percentage of them will reflect on this in a few years and ask themselves, what the hell was I thinking?
  4. One part of it might be the amount of money parents are giving to the school for their kid to be there; and another might be some parents are wired in to people who can make the academic administration accountable.
  5. One difference between the two might be that the animosity against teh blacks is coming from inside the house, and is so deeply rooted in American history that it can be fairly argued this entire country was founded on racial hatred against people of African features. It’s far more widespread, far more ingrained, and thus far more pernicious than anti-semitism, which comes from outside the house and might be seen as more isolated and transient than racial hatred. In fact, in America, Jews are not even considered a proper race as African-featured people are, while in Europe they traditionally have been considered a race. Jews in America are basically seen as white. That helps tamp down the spread of anti-semitism and thus I don’t believe it will ever reach 20c European proportions here.
  6. Republicans could have the exact fascist state they want, and maybe even bloodier, if only they could figure out a way to dump Trump and find a standard bearer more palatable to normies.
  7. It’s almost as though they were completely steeped in childhood until a light-switch moment, and then immediately embrace what they think of as adulthood, without going through any interim maturation process, which takes time, learning, and mistakes.
  8. And Faedo closes it out! We get to rest the back of the pen. That's big for the series coming up in Tampa.
  9. We could really use Faedo closing this out now.
  10. Solid joke!
  11. I mean cricket the game, not Cricket the It's Always Sunny character. 😉
  12. I've been assured they are domestic terrorists, which I guess you can tell by the string of dead bodies surrounding the NYC subway entries they have left in their wake.
  13. I'm as certain as I can be that Craig Monroe has zero idea who Goo Goo Dolls and Spin Doctors are.
  14. I agree. I don't mind happy talk if it doesn't overwhelm the game action, at least in contestable games. Not everybody likes Dan's "I take baseball seriously like a job" approach, but I like it just fine, and it suits him great.
  15. That's probably why all the best lineups in these analyses always says best your best hitter leadoff, your second-best second, third-best third, etc. FWIW, cricket works exactly like that.
  16. Regardless of how bad Javy does at the plate, he sure can run bases.
  17. I assume you mean where you bat the same nine guys? That's research they did a decade or two ago and that did come to the conclusion that stressing over batting order is overblown because the difference in run production is small as you say.
  18. I hate watching the game on MLB.tv where I have to reach for the volume knob basically every break because they play the same four spots over. And over. And over. And over. etc. I prefer watching the game on Extra Innings where I have at least a chance to see some semi-charming local Detroit spots.
  19. That works if you have a plus-hitter you can play at DH on the regular. If you don't have that and you wanna keep decent hitters in the game while giving them time off the field, rotating through the DH spot works well for that.
  20. MY BUDDY!
  21. Exactly. This was the Harris/Hinch stated strategy. They would have liked to have done it last year were it not for the 800-pound gorilla.
  22. It’s all laughing and joking until this kid becomes your boss. 😁
  23. It’s not as though Tork is tearing it up at the plate, either. Would we really want him to be full-time DH? Do we want anyone to be full-time DH?
  24. It’s easier to scoop on MLB field where there are almost no bad bounces and the ball is predictable.
