No, but keep watching, somewhere might set fire to some records before it’s all over. -

Greetings from beautiful Chicago, Illinois! They took away the pistol I tried to sneak through in my belly fat, but they did let me keep the brass knuckles and blackjack. -
This is interesting, I hadn't been to this site before. This I find particularly interesting: The assessment of news vehicles as left, center, or right; and varying degrees of factuality. I would love to find a list of all the vehicles they draw from and how they rate on these attributes. I can't locate that on their site. Have you seen one? I've clicked on every link under the three bars and am coming up empty. I wouldn't doubt if they regarded something like that as their secret sauce, or as a way to protect the appearance of source integrity or something.

Any examples of how MSNBC has harmed?

Agree. This is why I prefer the ad fontes model.

The: "Can we not do this anymore?" 2024 MLB Draft
chasfh replied to 1984Echoes's topic in Detroit Tigers
Ah, OK, very good. Dem Bums were second in the league in attendance all the way up to 1956 and then dropped to fifth in '57 when rumors of their impending move became more real. TBF, they did have an old stadium that needed updating at the very least, or else they should have gotten the new ballpark up Atlantic Ave, but they were famously shot down by Robert Moses, whose uttered name is followed by loogies to this very day. -
The key to this outcome will be preventing them while they're in the joint from communicating with their fellow traitors on the outside.

There is a winky-wink there ...

2023 Detroit Tigers Regular Season Discussion Thread

I think I'd be surprised to learn that A.J. and Javy are at personal loggerheads, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that Javy doesn't want anything to do with analytics-based philosophies stressing controlling the plate, since that's nothing like what brung him to the dance in the first place. -

I have a chance to see the Andre Lipcius era begin, live! -
I would think that as well. Cynical Me says I bet they do know, right now, that it came from outside, but a conscious decision is being made by someone along the chain to provide something other than exactly what they know, for reasons. Regardless of how much we despise the Chicago White Sox as an organization, as a team, as fans, as people, as a neighborhood, whatever, it simply makes no sense that a season ticket holder would try and could manage to sneak a gun past a magnetometer—and in their belly fat no less! I mean, really. Come on. I'm starting to wonder whether it's the city's decision to float this story, and I think they're gonna get caught on it, and if so, the question is how do they tamp down potential outrage. Who knows, maybe they'll try to delay delay delay until a couple months from now, then drop their actual findings the day before Thanksgiving or something.

Lottery or no, teams will continue to take a swan dive on payroll and let them chips fall where they may, given how MLB teams make so much money and accumulate so much market cap even when they lose big every. Damn. Year. You can also ask the Pistons how they like the draft lottery. -

Maybe that’s because so many guys aren’t exactly killing it at any one position they’ve playing at? Or maybe the org is trying to make room for other guys they know are coming down the pipe? I’m thinking it’s really about trying to see which guys we have in house could be useful where, to see whether they can be saved and hang around for another season, or gotta be dumped. Vierling might be a good example of that. We already know he can be an OK outfielder at times, but with Greene, Carpenter, and Meadows out there now, who are backed up by Baddoo, what do they do with Vierling? Release him right away? Let him rot on the bench for the rest of the season as a fifth outfielder only? Demote him (and replace him with who)? Any of those were doubtful propositions at the time. The org had to figure out whether he could be salvageable someplace else. You might remember some posters actually liked Vierling at third when he first was put there, until they saw he wasn’t really good there. But he’s been playing there still, because we have to put someone out there, right? So who’s banging on the door to push him out? Nobody I could see, at least until today and roster expansion. Now we can move 28th man Lipcius all over the diamond trying to figure out where he is most useful. That’s just the way it goes with a roster full of guys who simply aren’t regulars, or at least aren’t ready to be regulars yet. We just can’t throw guys out there at the same one position all the time at this point. We're just not there yet. We were never going to have that problem solved by now. And besides, it’s not as though trying guys at different positions is costing us a playoff spot, unless you actually believe we could have made it with this roster had Hinch not 3D-chessed our way out of it? -
I like news aggregators as much as the next guy, but AP is left? Since when? https://adfontesmedia.com/gallery/ Feels like they are trying to shift the perception of media bias to the right with that, as also evidenced by trying to normalize Daily Caller or Townhall as being similarly-respected news sites. Interesting how All Sides make the bold claim that they are “strengthening democracy” with their product right in the first sentence of their About page. Rather self-aggrandizing, that. John Gable, the guy who founded and runs it, also worked for a political party he won’t name in his LinkedIn profile, but which Entrepreneur magazine revealed in 2016 was Republican.

I don’t think so. Jake’s doesn’t profile as a #1, but he’s at least a decent backup with some pop in his stick, and he is fWAR positive. At the time all we had otherwise was Haase, and I’m pretty sure Harris was never thinking of dumping Jake to go long with Haase. In fact, we now know that Haase was already toast at age 30. I’m thinking more that they are hoping to unlock something with Kelly over the offseason and into spring. He’s had a couple 2-win-ish seasons already and is still under 30, and if they can get another win or two out of him over at least the next year, it would be worth the four bills to hang on to him as a bridge to Dingler, or as a placeholder to finding someone else on the market somehow. I think we might agree that things are still unsettled at catcher for the Tigers. -

Remember when the FOX decision desk called Ohio for Obama in 2008 and Karl Rove had a meltdown about it on air and Megyn Kelly walked over to the decision desk to see what the **** was up with that? Now THAT’S entertainment.
