  1. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt, but you’re probably spot on about Roberts.
  2. Here's a pointless distraction: watching some non-baseball guy named "Will Power" being interviewed during the game, presumably talking about something that's not baseball, and taking up a big part of the screen while play is in progress. As though we would rather see him than the players. Obviously, someone at Bally Detroit would.
  3. I feel bad for you folks in the Tigers market who can't do radio overlay on the TV video. If I were still living there I would definitely be looking for ways to jerry-rig it. Here's one solution if you're interested: implement your VPN directly through your router (rather than your gateway) so you can spoof being out-of-market on your smart TV/Apple TV/Fire stick/whatever. You need a VPN subscription and you need a router, but it does work. I do this when I want to watch Tigers-White Sox or Tigers-Cubs but still want to listen to Dan through MLB.tv.
  4. Two innings in against reigning Cy Young winner Justin Verlander:
  5. Oh noes, terrible banks on the verge of failing have plummeting stock prices, won't Super Putin please swoop in and save the day
  6. Perfect throw on the CS from Rogers to Ibanez, who basically gave Tommy Pham a concussion with that tag! 💀
  7. Good called strike three, as Jim Price would say, on McNeil. What a break.
  8. Sure, give her a shot, why not? So far I like Cameron Maybin the best, but Dan's sidekick is surely too small a box to stuff his talent into. He's got the chops to go national. Same with Alex Avila, plus who knows, maybe he's sore at us over his dad.
  9. I'm pretty sure the right wingers on the Court couldn't give less of a ****. Clarence Thomas will get away with it and that will give permission to every other Justice to engage in it if they so choose. Sure, it will destroy whatever is left of the public's confidence in the Court, but outside of the D-appointed justices and CJ Roberts, who cares? They have a mission, they are accomplishing it, they're getting paid, and that's all that matters, isn't it? Legacies are for suckers to worry about.
  10. Man, JV looks gassed already.
  11. And Javy crushes another JV fastball to right as well! back to back!
  12. Riley crushes JV with a fliner homer to right.

This is kind of interesting—press freedoms for basically all the countries of Europe, compared to that of the United States and Russia. "But wait", some might be asking themselves. "The United States is #1 in all freedoms! How can they be ranked #45 here, behind just about every country in Europe, including ex-Warsaw Pact nations? What kind of garbage criteria are these people using?" Two things: lol A good explanation of this lives here, but basically, it has to do with concentration of media in just a few hands, decline in local news, the rise of ultra-partisan media, and the constant denigration of the media by the fascist right wing that has eroded confidence in the objectivity of mass media.

I always thought of Michigan as a Pottawatomie state, but looks like I grew up in the Erie area.
  15. Three under Biden in his first two-plus years. Seven under Trump within his first year.
  16. TORK! is pretty decent at scooping throws, which is a big part of first base defense, but it's not the only part. When it comes to batted balls, he has poor range and poor reaction times. The Vogelbach double yesterday is a good example of that. And while he has improved on popups in his area, they can still be a bit of an adventure for him, plus he has a bit of a noodle for an arm, even for a first baseman. Fortunately, relatively speaking, first base is the one position on the diamond you can hide a poor defender as long as he has a good bat. We just have to get him a new bat, is all. 😁
  17. Maybe although I don’t see any checks being written until his empire goes into receivership after he’s dead.

Really fascinating. I’m not sure what time period this represents, but I would think our United Kingdom portion is either smaller here than it was on a previous map, or smaller than this now.
  19. That would actually not surprise me.
  20. Man, the Cardinals with yet another late-game loss. Let the Angels score three in the ninth on two homers to blow the game. They’re now 10-21 and in last place by at least three games. Gotta tell ya: I like it. It’s about time for those guys, finally.
  21. I saw the first six innings before I had to go out of pocket, but they were basically the best six innings I’ve seen this team play this year, especially at the plate. It’s nice to get glimmers of the hopeful future like this.
  22. Totally your prerogative as a fan. Just know that you will be welcomed back with open arms when he starts raking.
  23. Tyler Alexander with the win. He threw one pitch.
  24. Oh my goodness, that was a professional-quality save right there. This is exactly what I’d hoped to see when I started stumping last year for him to become our closer over Soto. I have never done the Adopt-a-Tiger thing, but I might just have to adopt Alex Lange now.
  25. OK, here we go: Alex Lange’s high-leverage save opportunity. first one of the year. Make it rain, baby.
