  1. There’s a whole generation of nouveau riche state school sorority girls who sound just like her.
  2. I love Jon Stewart and I think he wins this overall on the merits of the ideas and words, but I gotta admit the legislator wins on temperament. I was wondering whether Stewart was slightly losing it because the legislator was so calm, maybe because the guy also looked so face-punchingly smug while reiterating his insane talking points.
  3. Maybe there should be a whole other thread for this snuff garbage.
  4. It’s why I abandoned the format a quarter century ago. I still can’t listen to Stairway to Heaven even if it’s been 25 years since I’ve heard it all the way through. There are so many deep rockin’ cuts these supermonster classic rock artists have that could be sprinkled in. “Sunspot Baby” by Seger. “Say You Love Me or Say Good night” by Speedwagon. “Chip Away the Stone” by Aerosmith. The aforementioned “California Man”. How about bringing the rock back into classic rock?
  5. Next time play “California Man” and tell us about those emails.
  6. Whoever this guy trying to convince us he's Weird Al did:
  7. I think another part of it is the idea that if you don't truly hate fags, I mean actively vocally despise them, Jesus will hate you and God will condemn you to hell. After all, God spends all of his time reading the minds of seven billion people 24/7, including you—especially you—so if you're on the wrong side of any issue at any time, then it's later for you. Sure, some people might think that professional politicians would never believe in that nonsense and that it's all about gaslighting the rubes to get the votes and the power and the money and the sex, and that may be true of some. But remember too that a lot of these state-level legislators are not Washington professional insiders, but instead are small-town people with modest educations and zero political credentials who rode a wave to the state house as MAGA outsiders, so there are a lot of true believers among them.
  8. It was the exact thing some guy filmed himself calling her on the capitol steps last summer. It went viral in red hat troll media.
  9. Cool. I hope she'll have your vote when she runs for President in 2032. 😉
  10. I don't think it's overrating AOC to say she has compassion in a way MTG and Boebert do not.
  11. One more … i don’t think it got what I was going for … https://scribblediffusion.com/scribbles/kgwcbwuasfhotf4ma3kyxtrw44
  12. Meh on mine. https://scribblediffusion.com/scribbles/x7bi2tftbngk3hczuurqp7u3dm
  13. Is that a bug or a feature? Remember late winter of 2012 in this area? That’s when it was in the 80s not only on St Patrick’s Day, but also for several days afterwards. Everything started blooming in response, and then, the killing frost. We lost an entire crop of Michigan cherries that year because of it.
  14. I’m not at all worried about that.
  15. He knew what he was doing.
  16. And compassion, which, it goes without saying …
  17. I feel like people are giving up on TORK! too soon, especially after learning all we have about the dreadful state of development in this system. I’m basically a blank slate on the guy for this year, not expecting anything either way, which itself might be a little pessimistic. But in the end I would be truly shocked if his career simply crapped out from this point forward. I think there’s a better chance he ends up with a good career than Casey Mize does.
  18. There are sooo many stories coming out just like this. It was far worse than we even feared.
  19. I tend to think that because that whole fascist right wing makes so much noise, with an entire high-profile media ecosystem at their disposal, and because they hold entire states in their thrall, people believe they have bigger support than they likely have in actuality. But there's no way they have the support of 50% of Americans. They probably don't have even 40%. What they have is a system originally tilted to slave-holding states that they still benefit from that makes things electorally close. But yeah, they have for all practical purposes maxed out that base. For every voter they can convert from Biden to Trump/DeSantis, five or ten voters will come back the other way after they wake up from their stupor and come to their senses.
  20. All DeSantis is going to do is split off the vote from Trump. He's going to get the people who want the Trumpism without the Trump, and Trump is going to keep the people who want the Trump. The thing to remember is that they are never going to expand that base. All the people who want fascism are already in. No one who doesn't want fascism now is going to want fascism in a year and a half. Since they can't win a free and fair election, I believe the only way they can get people in line is to steal the election and then use force to impose minority fascist rule on the majority. Otherwise, how else do they win?
  21. Glad to see you have a sense of humor about it all!
  22. Wow, you hit the jackpot. The worst I see when I take the L is people walking between the train cars. Maybe I should take the Green Line more!
  23. You might be right about the gene. I think there's a gene that determines whether you like super hoppy IPAs. A lot of people do. I can't stand it. All it does is give me dry mouth and make me thirsty for water. I hated Vernors when I was a kid, but I learned to appreciate it more as an adult. I think of it as the horseradish of pop.
  24. Here in Big Shoulders, it's June what brings spring.
  25. In the American medical system, every doctor is savvy about business, and some even specialize in it. I'm just wondering whether Malarkey's medical specialty qualifies him to speak as a COVID-19 expert.
