  1. They may not care about Ukrainians, but they do care about pissing off liberals who they believe want to defend Ukraine, and really, isn’t that the crux of that biscuit?
  2. Gibson’s career has one silly, weird aspect to it: he had a career WAR of 38.4, with three seasons over 5.0 (including a 6.5), along with one league MVP award—yet he never made even a single All-Star team. Only two players in the All-Star era had a higher WAR without making a squad, and one of them was one of Gibson’s teammates on the 1993 Tigers! You know who I’m talking about …
  3. Frank Beckmann was one of the voices of my young adulthood. His is one of those voices that is imprinted in my brain such that I can replay it pretty faithfully. His wife was quoted in the Detroit News, I think, yesterday, as saying he probably wouldn’t make it to Monday. That’s a very unusual thing to read in the media, that the relative of someone says they are going to die in the next couple of days. I can’t recall when I last saw something like that. Godspeed to him and his family.
  4. This is actually a pretty clever follow-up. No way she thought it up herself.
  5. All very true. We all started learning this in earnest when Sean Spicer flat out lied about the size of Trump's inauguration, even though everybody could see the truth right in front of them. IMHO the importance of the impact of that event on our shift in thinking on such bold, bald-faced mass gaslighting is underrated.
  6. "There was actually an investigation into Hillary so she is guilty. There was not actually an investigation into Trump so he's not guilty." NewsHacks? Checks out.
  7. So what do we think? Is the information already gone for good?
  8. They do miles in India? Huh.
  9. Better to be lucky than good.
  10. I presume that Youngkin and his minions are embedded so deep in MAGA-world thinking, they honestly and truly had no idea that publicly rooting for open insurrection is anything but legitimate political discourse that is within the bounds of politesse and well-accepted within polite company. Even now they must surely be putting the blame on everyone outside their orbit as being cancel culture snowflakes, rather than re-evaluating their notions about what positions are publicly acceptable to take.
  11. I wonder what’s the deal with her use of “Miglia” as a Facebook alias? Setting aside that she’s flouting Facebook’s apparently squishy requirement that users use their real names, is she trying to co-opt something by Italianizing her identity? It’s a little weird but maybe there’s a good explanation.
  12. Projection junction, that’s their function …
  13. The 1992 team was pretty much the platonic ideal: most runs scored, second-most runs yielded, second-to-last place.
  14. I think that comment is a set up to blame players for the catastrophe of losing games.
  15. I'm not getting at anything. I'm just asking whether there's an age breakout for the poll. I'm interested.
  16. True as this is, what's missing here is that Republicans voters are also inspired, which adds a layer of certainty that they will vote.
  17. Rage has a lyric that sort of addresses this: "What does the billboard say? Come and play, come and play; forget about the movement ..."
  18. How would his sister know? Aren't troop movements supposed to be secret?
  19. I'm wondering how it breaks along age lines. I'm interested.
  20. Revenge of the D-plus students.
  21. I love the dismissive look, chuckle and “you’re cool” that Mayor Doofus got form the councilman on his left.
  22. Exactly. The red hats have an entire media ecosystem blasting out support for them and their idol, while the anti-Trumpers have only the MSM and left media they have traditionally despised supporting them. Who has the upper hand there?
  23. Depends in part whether this news story can maintain its hotness into November.
  24. Any idea how the Ukrainian poll about Russia breaks down along age lines? I’d be interested in seeing whether there’s a substantial difference one way or another.
