Flying in a helicopter you had worked on and inspected definitely helps you feel a bit more comfortable. If anything made me a bit nervous, it was the pilots themselves as they were almost always the cause of crashes. Over the service history of the helicopter I worked on, there was 78 crashes and only 6 of them were due to mechanical failure.
