  1. Not sure I agree. TBF, Jack has gone 1-2-3 in 4 of 5 innings, including previous inning, and pitch count was reasonable. I wasn’t watching though, so I don’t know how his stuff is was playing.
  2. Yep, toady was actually biggest output of the weekend. Gonna lose some games, but hate to waste that. I usually think “ 8 is enough”. 🥁
  3. Oh my. Had to step out after top of third. What a nice surprise!
  4. Oh for heaven’s sake
  5. Yeah, this looks like it may be an uphill battle tonight
  6. I’ve come around on Perez. He came into the year with more good weight and he’s shown improvement all the way around. Can never be certain of future trajectory, but the trend has been good
  7. Like they say, it’s often as much about when as it is who wrt to your opponent. This series was a good when
  8. I'd need to see another bad outing or so to agree with your take on Morton. If you look at his las 10 starts or so, his last start was the aberration. You can't look at his season long numbers.
  9. I've come to the same conclusion this year. As you said, he is a good player, just not the superstar some are hoping to see. Perhaps he will adjust to get more consistency, but I would forecast him to be a .275 hitter, 25 HR and ~.800 OPS, plus an above avg. left fielder. Nothing wrong with that, but I think he is close to what he will ever be.
  10. This is a good explanations of the dynamics; much better and more thorough than what I offered up earlier. 🙂
  11. Not thinking about age really. My thoughts are more related to the fact that McGonigle has only recently been promoted to AA ball. I'm guessing that the organization has a reason for the advancement trajectory of player in the system. For example, I would think that there are certain milestones that they want to see at each level, which may or may not be reflected in the traditional metrics we as outsiders look at.
  12. I don't have a say in it, but I vote no. To not rush those guys - which this would be - is also a move. I know it's been said a lot already, but Tork is an example of that type of move, and he was in AAA already.
  13. Now that would be something, not exactly sure what, but something.
  14. Fell asleep and awoke to a nice surprise this morning (the comeback win I mean 😀). I do hope this means something for sure, but there have been other games recently where I thought maybe a corner had been turned. This team keeps luring me back though . I guess I’ll be cautiously optimistic, because I wanna try to maintain an emotional balance so I can hopefully avoid despondency.
  15. The last 20 years of Detroit sports fandom have been like Charley Brown kicking the football.
  16. Oh, I don’t even know what day it is. This team is messing with my mind I tell ya
  17. I keep thinking Tarik is going to turn things around, but that was wishful thinking. both Tarik and the team got so much love nationally, but of course everything is going to crap. Again. did I mention I’m disappointed?
  18. Wow, just tuned in. The loss on Thursday was a low point; this is lower. Typically try to keep perspective, but it’s hard to see this team pulling out of this trend. So disappointing. Every facet of team is a below par.
  19. I would love nothing more, but I no longer live in Michigan, plus I’ll be at work. Hoping someone can resolve this though.
  20. Believe me, I really do not like losing in Philly - don’t much care for the fanbase, at all. Having said that, this is a totally knee jerk take. Trying to work the count on Sanchez - especially tonight - is a fools errand. You’d be behind in the count every at bat. Every well struck ball by the Tigers was on 1st or 2nd pitch. Overused phrase, but applies tonight3 just tip your cap and move on.
  21. Yeah, keep waiting for him to step it up a little. Could use another guy capable of the occasional big game. The more guys like that you have, the more sustainable your offense will be.
  22. The way Sanchez is dealing, a Riley K seemed A forgone conclusion. Hoping Morton does Ok, but can’t see a path to a win tonight. as I type this, Morton gives up 2 hits. Yikes
