  1. Geese Louise. Like @IdahoBert I fell asleep (recovering from shingles shot🙁), only to awake and see this carnage. when we achieve, nay exceed, Bertness with an all star pitcher on the mound, I say that should be enough.
  2. Oh good God. Well that was easy.
  3. Kirby’s ERA a little inflated this year, but he’s been pitching well of late. Interestingly, his WHIP is pretty decent for the year and in line with career numbers. Think maybe ERA inflated by a significant HR rate. Perhaps he had a bad stretch earlier in year. All to say - he could be a challenge. However, if he’s been more prone to HRs, that could be an opportunity. We’ve been reliant on HRs more this year. Could use another good outing from Mize.
  4. After sleep and further reflection, it’s all about pitching over the long haul. Yeah, I realize I’m stating the obvious. The team scores enough runs; a typical Skubal start yesterday and we’re talking about gritty tigers and Riley perhaps emerging from his scuffles.
  5. I was lead to believe that games like this would not happen. Perhaps I was misinformed 😀
  6. Yeah that’s true for sure wrt to games like this happening. I still don’t feel good about BP depth though. Would really like to address.
  7. I know it’s a long season, but this highlighted some concerns - at least wrt thinking this team is a juggernaut. The bullpen is leaking oil and offense lacks some reliable stars. A team of try hards is fun, but won’t win you a WS. Probably should be happy with 90 wins, Lord knows that seemed very far away a year or so ago.
  8. Yes. What are we doing here? I can’t think of any reason to put him in when they are hanging by a thread. Seems like earlier this year I heard Hinch say something to the effect that you always have to think about today’s game and let tomorrow take care of itself. Didn’t seem to apply here.
  9. Really need to take next two games now.
  10. He is hurting the team
  11. Wow, this sucks. If it’s been so long since we’ve had a true super star, I always worry that it won’t last. This totally ruins my night.
  12. Wow - would not have guessed that. 68 was really my first year of following and don’t remember all star game, but I would have guessed stormin Norman or Northrup maybe
  13. Yeah, they’ve actually reduced my fatalism, but not totally eliminated. I will often refrain from commenting during a bad outing, lest I sound like TP Fan in Lions game threads 😀
  14. Not at . As mentioned by @gehringer_2, Riley has basically been Jake Rogers for a while now. To be honest, and I hope to be proven totally wrong by history, even when Riley was going good, I still hadn’t gotten to the point where I felt he was a proven “star”. To me he’s so far been a proven mlb starter, like B, not an A.
  15. I’d forgotten what it’s like to have multiple all star starters. Feels great. Really feel good for Javy (formerly Harvy)
  16. Also, Tork’s babip is .254, which is below average despite decent EV and good barrel rates. Basically, his results seem sustainable and likely to improve. Hope I’m not jinxing him 😀
  17. Yeah, maybe Tork is “coming back down to earth”, but he’s still likely to hit 30 bombs. I’m definitely OK with that, plus he does seem to have improved his approach. As someone recently said about QBs, you can always do worse, which rushing Anderson would be imo.
  18. Nice to see. Been watching a bit of this . Bury them!
  19. Finally had a chance to check on game and saw we had a Bert, and by that he time I signed in it’s a Bert+1. Very pleased , as soft tossers like Ober always make me nervous, regardless of recent hitability. Plus Mize with the QS. A nice Saturday for a change.
  20. Yeah, SGL gave us a chance. Not quite a QS, but gave us a chance. One of those blah nights on offense.
  21. One the one hand, I didn't expect them to play at a .640 - .650 clip all year, but we need to shake this .500 ball; would be nice to have a little hot streak again. It's only one game, but I don't like rolling over for a pitcher like Festa. It's just my "feelings"(e.g I'm not looking at the data) and i know they're at the top wrt to runs scored, but I feel like it's all or nothing and that you can tell sometimes within the first few innings when the offense is going to be lethargic. Maybe I've become spoiled.
  22. nice summary. Thanks for doing the work and sharing. At first blush, the $66mm makes you think they have room to go get someone, but I wonder how much of that cushion will be needed to retain certain guys. I don't believe anything is imminent, and the threshold may rise, but it would be nice to lock some guys up early if possible.
  23. Yeah, likely not sustainable at MVP level, but how about somewhere between 100 and 178? Do you think his underlaying metrics don't support this level, or is this based more on Perez's history - which is pretty long at this point. I don't know the actual numbers so far, but I feel like he's had a lot of high velocity outs as well during this stint.
  24. This seems pretty reasonable at first blush; not sure who I'm not thinking of. Certainly seems fair wrt Tigers
  25. They needed this game and Parker needed that “taco” (ducks)
