  1. I had no idea that the Braves were known colloquially as the “bravos.“ I guess I don’t follow baseball at large beyond the Tigers to any significant degree.
  2. Greene is DH. Doing everything possible not to kill him before the season begins.
  3. BAEZ = versatile
  4. This game is among the many free MLB.tv games of the day.
  5. https://www.mlb.com/news/jackson-jobe-casey-mize-make-tigers-2025-opening-day-roster?adobe_mc=TS%3D1742660192|MCMID%3D78261064574897546767785557575872317822|MCORGID%3DA65F776A5245B01B0A490D44@AdobeOrg&affiliateId=mlbapp-ios_webview_home-feed&rsid=mlbios.at.bat.new.implementation
  6. Jobe, Mize nab final rotation spots, solidify Tigers' starting staff LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Tigers rotation includes one of baseball’s top pitching prospects and one of baseball’s former top overall Draft picks. Detroit formally welcomed Jackson Jobe and Casey Mize to the final starting group on Saturday morning by optioning Keider Montero to Triple-A Toledo.
  7. On March 27, 28 of 30 MLB teams will play in 14 Opening Day games. ESPN will broadcast two of them: the first of the day, Brewers-Yankees, in the late afternoon and a prime-time matchup between the reigning champion Dodgers and the Tigers.
  8. I really like not having the strike zone visible on the televised games. This way I don’t get aggravated as much when our guys don’t swing at what appears to be an easy pitch to hit. I don’t end up hating on the umpires. It’s just more pleasant.
  9. It’s a tough call, especially because if they have to baby Jobe’s innings…
  10. Montero pulled after getting the first out in the 5th after 72 pitches. Good day’s work for him and he struck out four in 4.1
  11. Jake doubled in two runs against the Orioles and the Tigers now lead 8–0.
  12. It took Montero 18 pitches but he got a three up three down in the 4th.
  13. Kreidler just homered in the game with the Orioles. They’re not taking a pitch count in the game with the Orioles so we don’t know how many tosses it is taken Skubal to do three perfect innings so far.
  14. That scrolling FanDuel thing at the bottom of the screen with the odds on every arcane thing you could possibly bet on infuriates me.
  15. That was a whale of a catch earlier in the inning by Perez. Either he’s a genius or there was some luck involved in that.
  16. Yeah, they’re hoping I guess that he was working on something in the simulated game that they didn’t want him to work on in a spring training game.
  17. Montero allows a single and Ks one in the 2nd.
  18. HR and a double for the Yanks v. Montero to lead off the game.
  19. It looks like the Lakeland game is allegedly an MLB TV free game of the day.
  20. I somehow never heard of this guy. Thank you for alerting me to his existence.
  21. “Dalkowski was famous for his unpredictable performance and inability to control his pitches. His alcoholism and violent behavior off the field[citation needed] caused him problems during his career and after his retirement. After he retired from baseball, he spent many years as an alcoholic, making a meager living as a manual laborer. He recovered in the 1990s, but his alcoholism left him with dementia[6] and he had difficulty remembering his life after the mid-1960s.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Dalkowski This is a pretty interesting story. I wonder that if he actually did throw 110 mph the umpires didn’t give him credit for pitches that just nicked the strike zone because they were too fast. Although there’s a good chance, he was way out of the zone.
