  1. It’s hard for me to summon up interest in the postseason races now we’re no longer in them. I used to feel a rooting interest in the AL winning the All-Star game or the World Series because my team is in the AL but it’s something I’ve never been able to sustain. I’m not against other people doing it, and I admire those who can make this adjustment from one team or sport to another. But I can’t successfully transfer the weird alchemy I have for the Tigers to other teams. I’m a one trick pony. A lesser version of it can go towards Boise State football or the Lions, but the highs are never as high, nor the lows as excoriating as they are for the motherland of the Tigers. The Tigers are my blue ice and it’s not even a choice, it’s just what it is. Wishing you all the best until next year. Cheers.
  2. Extremely flawed is a good way of putting it. They got an awful lot of mileage out of this team which was unexpected. Making the team better and not just expecting it to mature is really important.
  3. Maybe by not winning this series, ownership will be encouraged to do more than just rest on its laurels and will see the need for adding new faces, bats, arms, whatever it takes. Other teams in this division, especially the Royals and the Twins, are certainly not going to rest on their laurels in the off-season and it’s a solid business decision to do something instead of just hope for the best next year.
  4. I’m being a grown-up about this as much as the eight-year-old mentality that inhabits my body is able to. I never expected a run of this magnitude or to get this far in the postseason, or to even get into the postseason at all. This team is sort of the assemblage of a very smart doctor Frankenstein who used new body parts instead of old ones, a handsome assemblage which walked around and didn’t throw any children in the water. No reason for torches and pitchforks. I look forward to next year. GO TIGERS!
  5. Well, this was bound to happen eventually, it’s hard to be perfect forever.
  6. Kerry Carpenter singles on a line drive to right fielder Jhonkensy Noel. Trey Sweeney scores.
  7. I’m predicting Skubal with a 93-pitch perfect game which is 0–0 until the top of the ninth when the Tigers score 6 runs and after he gets the last out roses fall from the sky and cover the field 1 foot deep.
  8. With the lights out, it's less dangerous Here we are now, entertain us I feel stupid and contagious Here we are now, entertain us
  9. This run after the trade deadline so vastly exceeds anything I ever dreamt possible that for me it’s our version of Hannibal successfully crossing the Alps into Italy. And hey, he didn’t defeat Rome, and we might not make it far enough to defeat our Rome either, but what we’ve witnessed this year is historic. GO TIGERS!
  10. It’s a relief that Jake will be able to catch.
  11. I was going to say that, but you beat me to it.
  12. One of my friends who graduated from East Detroit High School in 1965 lives in Clearwater and goes to Tropicana all the time, especially when the Tigers are in town. For all the acknowledged issues with the ball field, he loves it for the mere fact that it’s air conditioned. He also loves the fact that he can always get tickets.
  13. This is drop dead, one of the coolest things I’ve seen. This brings me such great joy. Many many years ago I drove my daughter who’s now 33 to Portland to see the White Stripes. It’s over an 8 Hour drive so she was serious about seeing “her first concert.“ I had overheard her playing The White Stripes in her room and I thought they were kind of like Led Zeppelin Lite. I didn’t listen very closely. But when I saw Jack and his sister on stage and they made as much music as six people, I couldn’t believe it. It was operatic, just amazing, an epiphany. Yeah, people who can do stuff like that are Tigers fans!
  14. I don’t really think I’m old, but my body and the people around me disagree. I’m still an innocent eight-year-old at heart who in 1960 placed a ruler on a map and Detroit was 1/32 of an inch closer to my town in Indiana than Chicago so I’m a Tigers fan instead of a White Sox fan. I googled my old address a couple years ago and discovered, however, that old Comiskey Park was actually 1/3 of a mile closer to my front doorstep. So there are benefits to being old. I can’t imagine a world without the Tigers in my life.
  15. Just take a moment to process this trauma then we’re on our way to a real healing journey.
  16. I was already planning on how to spend my World Series emotional bonus check.
  17. I would’ve much preferred a bucket full of runs, but I guess we’re in for excitement²
  18. Thank you for “overmanaging” AJ
  19. Ladies and gentlemen Wenceel Pérez
  20. Now that murderers row is coming to the plate this game is a cinch. This will be like the scene in Apocalypse Now where they sacrifice the cow for the feast.
  21. We need some Parker Meadows heroics big time
