  1. I guess the philosophy behind throwing “1st pitch strikes” is also to make sure they’re hard to hit.
  2. The dramatic come from behind victory will be all the sweeter when it happens.
  3. These guys are really swinging the bats with authority like there’s no tentativeness about this at all.
  4. Well, the no-hitter is over for both teams quickly.
  5. Wish that ball off of Colts bat had been seeing eye double.
  6. Just got back to the little house in the mountains after a walk to see the coverage on Max and they’re talking a lot about the Yankees and Pete Rose, which for me is a tremendous yawner.
  7. Hi… < shuffles feet, stares at the ground, then lifts up his head and looks at other people in the room then resumes his soliloquy> my name is Bert and I’m a Tigers fan and I have invested vastly more of my psychological and emotional well being in this team than I should… And it’s been going on for years…
  8. Do people not know how to spell the Guardians name or do they misspell it on purpose?
  9. I’m hoping to see the Tigers vs. the Padres in the World Series. And not only because I like the way it turned out last time < cough cough choke > 40 years ago. It would be an underwhelming spectacle for commercial interests and for temporary, fair weather fans who like football more than baseball anyway. It would basically be a big “fail” for everyone but us, and for people who like all varieties of David vs. Goliath narratives. And I’m honest enough to admit that I would take pleasure in this even though it’s probably kind of small for me to do so.
  10. I’m OK with growing our own purple pixie dust buds in our underground climate controlled hydroponic greenhouse, and seeing how that turns out. In addition to filling a few blanks that don’t cost $60 million a pop.
  11. Hey Beaver, I can’t get over it, but I’m still basking in the afterglow of both the Orioles and the Astros being eliminated. And to think that only a few days ago you were perturbed by the possibilities and challenges these two teams presented. You acted like they were really an obstacle! And you made a big deal about it. Ha! <snicker>
  12. Anyone here willing to manage the Miami Marlins?
  13. The nauseating air quality that tortured Idaho and much of the Northwest for two months has returned as smoldering embers of fires thought conquered by rain and smoke jumpers burst back into flame thanks to stiff winds. After all this time I finally realized my Detroit Tigers Covid mask could protect me from the smoke and never once noticed the smell of burning plastic or rubber in the air until I took off the mask. At least there isn’t ash and incinerated pine needles falling from the sky as it was a few weeks ago, but it still sucks. GO TIGERS ANYWAY!!!
  14. All I can think of for the off day in between the first two days in Cleveland is that MLB doesn’t want too many games on at the same time for commercial reasons.
  15. I can’t believe I have to go all the rest of today and all day tomorrow until there’s a game on Saturday and then there’s another off day on Sunday!
  16. Scott Harris would be an unprofessional dilettante if he bailed on Detroit — which is a crowning example of his ability at work as much as it is a job that needs to be finished as well as a work in progress — just because he loves the Bay Area so much. I seriously doubt that he’s that shallow.
  17. I’m not sure I don’t think so. On my home TV my son has subscribed to the highest tier possible so I can see everything. But here where I’m staying in Central Idaho in the mountains I don’t think my friend has the top tier and I don’t see any indication that you have to buy an add-on. I guess I’ll find out Saturday, but Max is still telling me that this game will begin at 9 AM mountain standard time. I don’t know about pausing on baseball but I can pause on cycling races.
  18. https://climbingtalshill.com/posts/astros-have-no-reason-to-be-worried-wild-card-game-1-defeat-vs-tigers-01j951qjdfvp?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0uch4oFJtocBxSSqAd6XabnEf0BsGtYeI6EKCPPYblouKnRI9BbGN4trU_aem_ZX9mIC1EDRWngjzLSK3Zzg The arrogance of this article boasting that the Astros have nothing to fear from the Tigers warms the cockles of my dark cinder of a heart.
