Is there something new that happened today?

This is really good, thanks for posting it. I didn’t see this anywhere else until here. EDIT: it just popped up on my MLB app a few minutes ago.

This article seems intended to simply throw red meat to the unwashed huddled masses, yearning for spectacles.

Is that, however, from a baseline that was pretty small to begin with?

This whole Bregman thing was an unsightly illusion. We never really had a chance. It’s like the Tigers were Fredo Corleone pleading his case saying “I’m shmart too!“ We never really had a chance against Chicago and Boston. I think any expectations that Bregman will fail in Boston are hopeful thinking. Some line drives off the monster may play for doubles and sometimes even singles, but this guy is going to make contact and I think he’ll be fine at Fenway.

I wish I hadn’t got caught up in this mania. Against my better judgment I fecklessly began to believe this could work and I’m disappointed in how I departed from my original instincts, which was to see this player and possibility as an unlikely fit. I feel a level of ill will towards the player and the process that makes me uncomfortable.

So Torkelson not only does nothing the team asked him to do off-season, but he essentially says it’s BS. Maybe it’s just his way of saying he’s given up, that everything they’re asking him to do is over his head and beyond his ability to comprehend.

It’s not like he has a lot to brag about.

I was expecting to awaken to good news today, but instead we have the bad news about Cobb and no news about Bregman.

True, but he walked about half as much as usual this last season while his K total stayed consistent. I wonder if he was less discriminating so he was walked about 40 times less than normal or pitchers stayed in the zone often enough that he knew he had to swing and take his chances.

Just wondering about Torkelson. I guess they keep stuff like this under wraps, but if the club was happy with his progress I think they might’ve said something about it, if only to enhance his trade value.

There is that old saying that you don’t want to know how either sausages or laws are made, and I guess you can add negotiations of free agents to that list.

When the Tigers win 112 games in 2025 Bregman will be really sorry he wasn’t a part of it since they could’ve won 114 if he’d signed.

This is starting to feel like the Tigers are an average looking girl competing with college bound cheerleaders for some jock. Of course I’ll forget all about this unenviable comparison if he joins the club and does what we hope he can do.

Maybe deep down the Tigers don’t really want Bregman. Hinch did the right thing and had his devil‘s tail docked after the scandal. But but there’s a lot of sub-reddits where it’s discussed that Bregman never had his devil’s tail docked and since he doesn’t wear his socks high, the Tigers are worried it’ll stick out from under the hem of his pants when he gets excited and be a bad example for the rest of the team on the field and especially in the clubhouse.

I’m rooting for Kellen Moore.

I’m not celebrating prematurely, but so far I like the way this game is going.
