  1. Oh boy! Javy and Zach and Tork are a part of today’s “parlay!” I swear Hunter Thompson almost nailed it when he said Las Vegas is what all of America would be if the Germany had won World War II. Instead, we did it to ourselves with a constant celebration of easy money as the greatest conceivable good. The Corleone family went legit.
  2. I don’t know how fleet of foot Santander is but at 6 foot and 230 pounds and 30 years of age he doesn’t sound like the kind of guy the Tigers would want in their lineup for five years. Maybe he’s flashy in the field - I don’t know well enough to say whether he is or not - but on the surface he doesn’t seem to illustrate now or in the future the sort of lineup flexibility we’re looking for.
  3. The Tigers have the second best road record of any team in MLB with 13–10, bettered only by the Cubs at 13–9. Being even steven on the road is a big deal. Only 11 teams in MLB have even a .500 or above road record. And four of those understandably are in the NL West. The strange outlier in the AL is the Athletics who are vastly superior on the road than at home but as far as I’m concerned for them too bad not so sad. Of course I have nothing against the players, but only spite for the ownership.
  4. Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander is out of the starting lineup once again Saturday afternoon as Toronto gets set to take on the Detroit Tigers. It will be the fifth game he has not started out of Toronto's last eight. Santander has dealt with shoulder and hip injuries this month and also missed Friday's series-opener against the Tigers. The 30-year-old is slashing .187/.266/.316 with five home runs and 16 RBI in 39 games so far this season with the Jays, his first since signing a five-year deal as a free agent this winter. <NB> slashing?
  5. Eric Lauer, a former first round Padres pick and a lefty, will be starting for Toronto today. He was most recently a starter in the International League and has been in three relief appearances so far this year for the Blue Jays. I don’t think this is pitching chaos. His nickname according to BR is Gomer. He’s definitely not a “rookie“ but most of our guys have never “seen his stuff.“
  6. Ready, Set, GOOOOOoooooooo………

  8. Javy will be proud to show he’s a team player and can do everything. Heck he might end up being the position player pitching in a game.
  9. I’m leaving pretty quickly for the rest of the game. My oldest daughter is inviting me over for Middle Eastern food tonight. Have a great game and go Tigers!
  10. The Blue Jays should figure out how to make the wind blow out at Rogers the way the Twins did at the Metrodome.
  11. Ladies ladies were all pretty.
  12. Javy Mays with the great catch in center, and they double off the runner at first.
  13. The Blue Jays main TV announcer has that classic low announcer voice with elongated vowels. I feel like I’ve gone back in time. It’s kind of comforting. It makes me want to break out a can of Stroh's in the old classic gold and white with black accents motif. The first beer that ever touched these lips.
  14. The Blue Jays announcers are making the point that the Tigers are not stealing many bases, but they’re one of the best base running teams in baseball in terms of going from station to station.
  15. I take that back. They’re all wearing those dopey hats.
  16. We just want them to know that eventually we will invade, steal all their poutine, and carry off their women.
  17. What’s with the military camo hats?
  18. Yep. He looks damn good for an old guy
  19. The Bluejay announcers didn’t go into detail but they say that the Tigers pay acute attention to every detail of the game. Understatement.
