  1. Somehow someway these perfect teams full of homegrown superstars that played their way into the majors and stuck together for years as a band of brothers never really happens.
  2. Wow, I completely missed that era for the most part. I was in my early 20s, 2000 miles from local Detroit media, baseball was just a distant memory of childhood and something I’d left behind, and I hadn’t looked at the sporting news for years and spent every weekend hiking with friends in the mountains and deserts of Southern Arizona. I did go to a few AAA games in Tucson at that time and I remember in 1975 wearing my Tiger‘s cap at a game and people walked up to me and honestly offered their condolences, one baseball fan to another.
  3. I’m just happy that with the newfound intimacy established between MLB and NASCAR, the case has been made for baseball to be mentioned in the same breath with all the real sports like professional wrestling, wet T-shirt night, and dwarf tossing.
  4. The Tigers like announcers that are amiable and don’t appear too stuffy. I’ve watched other teams broadcasts, and some of them have announcers that seem kind of uptight and officious wearing crisp suits and affecting a kind of propriety that seems archaic and alienating to a younger generation. The Tigers are going in a different direction. God knows the ads on mlb.tv are trying hard not to be too officious where they’re constantly making jokes about d*ck pics. Apparently every woman on earth would never date a man unless she saw a picture of his junk in advance. I think it’s conceivable this might be an overstatement of the actual state of affairs.
  5. Yeah. I like Daniella though. She fulfills her role quite well.
  6. Guardians won the game but too bad so sad for us. We can’t expect other teams to do the heavy lifting for us.
  7. Tied going to extras
  8. Ha! Thanks man! “My name in print!”
  9. Which reference? I’m multitasking.
  10. Well well well…
  11. We definitely need more runs. No lead feels safe against the mighty Minnesota Twins.
  12. What the heck is Hurter doing hitting guys?
  13. Kerry Carpenter Wow.
  14. Wenceel Pérez homers (9) on a fly ball to right field. Spencer Torkelson scores.
  15. And he almost gives up a second one to dead center that Baez snags.
  16. Mize gives up a first inning run.
  17. Indeed, the White Sox took two of three from the Phillies and we were only able to squeeze out one win in three. I’m sure the Tigers are not celebrating that they’re merely playing the Twins tonight. Todd Jones was pouring some love on Buxton in the pregame by the way.
  18. I’ve heard people assert that you can “build for the playoffs” and I don’t think that’s particularly true. There’s a randomness to every short series that can trip up even the most well constructed ball clubs. One bad call by an umpire, or one bad fielding play can release floodwaters of unpredictable results and wash away a series.
  19. I drove through Yellowstone on my way back from a visit to Detroit in 1988 and it was the day before they closed Yellowstone for the fires and the way the sun filtered through the smoke, your skin looked as yellow as a caution sign. It was really weird.
  20. There’s sometimes in Idaho where it’s 150 and it doesn’t bother me, and other times where there’s a haze hanging over everything, white picket fences look orange, and you can taste it in your mouth. 10 to 12 years ago when this started happening every year, it didn’t bother me that much but I really notice it now.
  21. Wow, I just checked and the air quality for Detroit is pretty bad thanks to the Canadian wildfires. In Idaho, we have had tremendously bad air quality the last dozen years hitting up to 500 last year around this time but <knock on wood>we’ve dodged the bullet so far this year.
  22. Here We Go Again - Song by Demi Lovato ‧ 2009 So how did you get here Under my skin? I swore that I'd never let you back in Should have known better Than trying to let you go 'Cause here we go, go, go again Hard as I try I know I can't quit Something about you Is so addictive We're falling together You'd think that by now I'd know 'Cause here we go, go, go again
  23. Giving up a home run to Kyle Schwarber is nothing to be ashamed of. Not scoring any runs off of Sanchez is nothing to be ashamed of. The Phillies are a good team and they are at home where they are even better. Winning one game was probably the best we could expect. There’s still the ninth, but I’m not holding my breath.
