  1. By the way, for you with access to Apple TV, the pregame begins at 6:30 PM Eastern. As for what Apple TV provides otherwise, the two seasons of FOUNDATION are great, although the suits at Apple pretty much destroyed chances of the series going ahead. Since that’s gone if it weren’t for the fact, my son pays for it. I probably would’ve stopped subscribing by now. I watched Monarch: Legacy of Monsters which was Godzilla series and pretty good. Started watching Sunny and the series seemed to go nowhere halfway through. Everybody I know raves about Severance and Slow Horses but the older I’ve got the less likely I am to spend time being a mere spectator — I reserve that for the Tigers — so I’m slow to pick up a new series.
  2. The above does not seem like lineup for the ages. But somehow they have sustained a positive momentum for more than just a series or two.
  3. I don’t know how this is accomplished, but I hope Hinch as a stable anchor can keep the young players, especially, focused on the bubble of this mutual momentum they appear to inhabit. It only exists game-by-game, and must be renewed daily through a single-pointed focus on the goal of the day. They have to keep their heads firmly entrenched in each single game and avoid distractions about the future. When Hinch says they purposely avoid getting caught up in the future, this is exactly what he’s talking about. We have the luxury of pondering these imponderables, but they don’t. There’s times on the field, where you sense them coalescing into something greater than the sum of their singular identities, as if they were surfing on the same great wave. It’s really something to behold.
  4. Duh. I was thinking it was a statistic, not an entity. I immediately knew what BR was, but didn’t relate it to something like that.
  5. Also what is an FG outlook to make it so decisive? An Internet search of FG yielded nothing for me.
  6. The most recent one posted yesterday ranked us 13th ”The Tigers have been carried by their pitching. If they hope to do what hardly anyone considered possible just a few weeks ago, they'll probably have to hit a bit more; their .685 second-half OPS is the eighth lowest in the majors.”
  7. Getting an early start on things is a good idea.
  8. I am more interested in the fact that on a rest day my team backed into a tie for the wildcard that is not really a tie, than the lesser fact of Ohtani hitting three home runs with six hits and 10 RBIs and stealing his 50th base. I have different priorities.
  9. A reliever over a starter who’s leading in wins strikeouts and ERA?
  10. Does Keith Law get the vote on the Cy Young winner in the AL?
  11. It just amazes me that this team was 55–63 and now it’s 80–73. And the goal that we originally had in mind was 81 wins.
  12. I’m doing it to prepare for our celebration. Which will be much better
  13. Alphabetical order, but not real order
  14. Having to watch this Cleveland celebration in the locker rooms is the very definition of cringe.
  15. I got to meet Bob Feller on the practice fields in Tucson. You could walk on the warning track and say hi to Andre Thornton. And I did meet out of town Cleveland fans and honestly, they were very nice people. And it was sweet to see young rookie Indian players having picnics under a palm tree with their parents. I have a lot of happy memories of spring training and the Indians. Sat next to Joe Garagiola at a game. The girls who hung out trying to meet the players were unbelievable.
  16. I lived in Tucson, where the Tribe had spring training and went to seven or eight games a year for 13 years. There were absolutely no Indian fans in the city half a million people, not one. At least I never met one. I get the feeling that people in Lakeland actually like the Tigers. Cleveland sucked all of those 13 years.
  17. 3-outs and still tied. Minn chokes.
  18. Correa weakly fouls out
  19. Bases loaded with twins, w/ 1 out
  20. HBP two on for Minn. sac bunt and runners advance.
  21. Ramirez is up in the bottom of the 9th and we go to extras because these guys are not good at pulling rabbits out of hats like our guys are.
  22. It’s so cute to hear other announcers for other American League teams talk about their own “Cy Young” candidates. Ha!
  23. In 13 games against the guardians this year the Twins have only scored 37 runs.
